I wish I could say I understand, but I never will, even though I have also "lost" a father .... even though he is still alive.

I was 9, it was quite an experience.

Something that happens it stays fresh in your mind forever.

Newspaper interviews, a funeral with a massive procession where I walked ahead of the other soldiers who attended with more of them and a band forming a tunnel for us to walk through.

Having to be at the Union Buildings and the state President calling you and shaking your hand and then he gives you a medal of honor.

Heartbreaking , painful enough to hurt every single time you think about it, but an immense amount of pride that goes along with it.

Thus my friend, when someone is a hero, I will see them as a hero forever.

Heroes never die.

I can't imagine having to go through something like that at such a young age. The fact that you remember it so well says a lot. Your Dad is indeed a Hero, and the country is indebted to him and all others like him.

Another one

A FORLORN dog refuses to leave the muddy graveside of his owner who was killed in the floods that have brought devastation to Brazil.

The shoes

Wow. Only noticed it when you mentioned it! Time road shoes... looks like the cleats are still on?

Edit: No, no cleats.

Yip, I've felt the pain of that reef many times, awesome wave though. I can't wait to ride when I'm back in Durbs for Xmas.
