I ride a steel mountain bike (DMR) and love it. I don't know much about road bikes though. As long as it's well made, I think it'd be great. It's also a nice way of doing something a bit different.

You got to love steel frame bikes, classics. It is only a couple of kg heavier that the latest stuff, and they have soul.

I also would stick with a reputable brand.

I have a steel alpina don't ride it anymore because i upgraded to a trek OCLV. But it was amazing rode very well and felt very solid! Would probably train on it if it still fitted me!

piloted a steel tandem on sunday.

man was that bike fast on the downhills Big%20smile - and even faster in the slip of a proper racing-tandem that rode with us Big%20smile

I commute with a eddy merckx corsa, mirage groupo. Good bike, compares well with new bikes, comes in at about 10kgs.
