Hi all,

I am a converted roadie to mtb.  Been out of riding for 10 years after my bike was stolen.  I am also recovery from a small knee op and looking for mtb rides where there isn't to much climbing (detrimental to rehabilitation of the knee), is there such a thing (   )?

Ive done the Koeberg ride too many times to mention so looking for a new experience, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow as a kid we used to press our nose up against the glass of the Deale and Huthe Cycles shop in DF Malan Drive in Blackheath. This is bringing back memories. My mate had their lower end road going bike - the swift and the dart. Our family was too poor and so these were like going to see the Ferraris in the showroom to perve at them.

They also had the ultimate in Bike Porn in those days - a thing called a Zeus with wingnuts rather than Quick releases.

These were al locally made in SA - there was another dealership somewhere as well.

Remember the shop fondly! The Old chap who was there in the Eighties was a Legend! Too may years ago to remember his name but spent many hours drooling there!

In that Price range I would scour the classifieds here for a used 26'er - can normally dig up a bargain or two there.

To get back on track,

Welcome new/old cyclists to hubland. There is a lot to enjoy here (and waste time on!)

This forum is only what its members make of it so contribute away (in the correct places) and enjoy.

Hi, as you can see from my avatar I started early on 2 wheels but had some massive gaps inbetween riding to school - 9 Argies in a row (waiting for son to ride 10th one) - and now MTB. Still learning the ropes but so far so good, have had only good experiences so far on the hub, be it buying a component or getting advice from you guys. Thanks!

Hi guys,

My name's Sasha. I've been driving a desk for the last 4yrs designing boats. I used to ride a lot back then but now I am unfit and feeling guilty. I'm looking to get back into mtb and discover the tracks in WP. As a kid I used to do the pipe track and the glen haha. Also hunting the classifieds for a xl dual-sus suitable for a fatass.  -_-

Cheers!

Hi Guys, new to the Hub. Cycled a bit when I was younger until my bike got stolen. Entered 94.7 for later this year so came to the hub to try find a bike. I'm nowhere on cycling knowledge so could anyway give me a quite bit of advice. I'm about 6' 2", so what size bike would I need?

Hi everyone. I'm new around here. I haven't cycled in years but I'm looking at starting mountain biking. My plan is to get a decent spec, entry/mid range, second hand hard-tail 29er in order to gauge my interest in the sport. i don't want to blow too much on a bike before I know I really enjoy it.

Looking forward to getting on the trails soon. :)

P.S - this sport has become damn expensive :P

Hi all

Im Dean, based in centurion/valhalla. Im not new at all but never introduced myself and was also just watching the classifeids. I cycled about 2 years, 2 years ago. I did a few races like, NISSAN TRAIL SEEKERS, USN CUP. CHOC COWS,BIG 5 +1 WD40, VOORTREKKER MONUMENT ETC. I wanted to do the 94.7 that year but my frame broke a month before and couldnt do it. After getting my new bike from the US i cycled for 3 months and then got into motocross. But ive missed the thrill of hard enduro and also the fab body, lol.( i got fat )

I sold my Mx bike and bought an fuji mtb. so im back on the road/trails for the last 3 weeks. Realy missed the sport.

So hmmmm.... HELLO TO ALL MTB AND ROADIES

Regards

Good Day all

Happy to have found this website.

I am new to MTB always used to BMX as a kid after that never got fit again. I have been going for almost a year now and did three short races, time is a problem, anyway now I am starting to wonder about my bike and at what point should I upgrade or not.

So I started out cheap with a Raleigh 650B hardtail with mechanical discs that cost me R3500, any opinion on this?

I wanted to start small and see if I would like the sport and at this time I really do.

Also any tips on some training I can do to practice climbs, omw they are killing me

I'm still quite new to the site. Been riding bikes since I was 2, raced BMX when I was a lightie, and been on mtb for the past 26 years - got my first mtb in '89! First mtb race was on a solid steely with toe clips, at Irene. No front shocks in those days

Very cool site and community you've got here.
