Wanted to visit TEAK for the first time this weekend, seems to be some confusion on the Hub on it's current status?

Is it open, is it closed for MTB'ing or has/will it move?

Should I bother going there this weekend?

Closed as of yesterday.

Teak itself is closing down as a whole. Apparently they've been running a loss for sometime now and the directors took the decision to shut it down or "mothball" the place for now.

May well be that someone buys into it or takes over, but for now unfortunately it will be closed.

Was really sad riding around there yesterday, bridge sections have already been pulled up from the singletrack. Really was one of the top riding spots for Joburgers and there's some damn fine memorys from there.

Really feel for the workers though, they're facing an uncertain future as well the guy's whose business it is. Hopefully the landowners will be able to turn it around another way.

Anyone else heard a rumour that a new venue is being planned in the East near Modderfontein?

Kim Johnson from Johnson Cycles is trying to organise a bike park in the deserted Huddle Park Golf Course - here's hoping!

hey guys, went to teak for the first time last sat, shocking, what a boring park, maybe im just used to Rietvlei which has the most awesome single track, forrests and blue routes.

I found Teak to be boring and easy with alot of looping, so frustrating. must say even if they werent closed i wouldnt ever go back and for those who never went i personally dont feel that you missed anything.

hopefully with their new park then can do a better job.

+1, I have also never enjoyed Teak. You should try Kings Kloof, 100 times better than Teak. I am going to try Rietvlei for the first time tomorrow.
