Seems like only the most hardcore capetonians are even going to work tomorrow let alone cycle.

Anyone else planning a trip to hoogekraal?

Guess I'm one of those that has to work tomorrow[emoji20] otherwise no aircraft will be able to fly

My boet is scheduled to fly into Cape Town early tomorrow and he is a real chicken when it comes to flying. A little turbulence makes him grab the Rescue Remedy. As we speak, the the family are placing bets on whether he'll cancel before the flight gets cancelled or not. :D

So, which Capies are hardcore enough to ride to work tomorrow?  :cursing:

Edit: The 100-year-storm is going to hit tonight. Western Cape education department closed all schools tomorrow, for the 1st time ever. 12 m swells predicted. 100% chance of rain. Up to 100 mm predicted within 24 hours. Winds of up to 100 km/h. Extreme likelyhood of flooding. Disaster management all on 24 hr standby.

Just came back from the airport, along the R300

A "stiff breeze" out there at the moment.  And this is only the tip of the storm ... may get interesting !!!!

For the last couple of years each spring-tide has brought some flooding to the Strand, and near flooding to various other areas along the coast.  This time we have two days of spring tide co-inciding with a "strong wind" .... HKGK !!

GLAD I only have a 4km ride to work tomorrow - in the CAR.  Will spend the day doing design and admin ... site visits can wait for another day ....

Many trees blown over, roads blocked, car drivers being "eratic" at best ....

To those doubting the strength of this wind.

Although I was free to ride, I took the Landy to work. Not all that wet yet, but the WIND is something else. Glad not to be out on the bike. Electricity out at home, but all up and running at work. All my staff arrived earlier than usual because they anticipated traffic trouble, but the roads were near empty. I think most Capies are having a lie-in this morning.

Took the car to work, but would have been able to cycle. Strong winds, but quiet roads. Since the real thing is only truly hitting a bit later I'm happy to be a scaredy cat today.

Remember your keys so that can unlock your bike. Walking is less fun
