When I used to commute to work and back, I learned that taking my mtb was better than taking the road bike - in the sense that I could hop on and off of the foot/side paths as to avoid taxis and traffic.

One thing I have learnt from NOT commuting, is that it is very depressing.

The only thing worse than not being able to ride, is not being able to commute.

Picked up a common cold virus last week, not sure if it's cos I've been riding too hard every morning and afternoon during my commutes. Anyway, also missing riding my bike, waiting to recover properly before I decide to commute again,

Gandalf, did you see FreedomRider_MHD posted a PDF with pamphlets to print and leave on cars that park in the cycle lanes.

This afternoon was fun.  Seems the one path I ride some times were taken out by a flood today.  So when I got there I was met with the best mud bath I had this year.  I was smiling all the way while the rear wheel were fighting for a little bit of grip to carry me out of the mud bath.

Think the cars though I were nuts.  Was laughing with joy

I've taken yesterday and today off as rest days for this weekend's 24hr in Oak Valley .... I am definitely more tired in the morning when not riding ?? I should be rested and feeling in top form ?

Was laid up for 3 weeks with a broken toe, got proper depro! Especially when I knew my mates were out riding on a Sat/Sun morning.

i try to commute once per week, weather permitting, 22km single way. Temperatures are now around 0° brrrrr, I 've learned 5° is the minimum to make it comfortable. Between 0 -5° is doable, but one hour max. Next week, weather predicitions are windchill temperatures of -8°!! No way I'm riding my bike lol.

when not, commuting by bike, I have an easy 15' train ride (train card paid for by employer too)

And I complain when it hits -2... Good luck there. I hear the winter is harsh this year...

Forget all previous pb's and time, just take it easy and enjoy it.

Solid piece of advice this. I cannot believe how much fitness you lose in just a month. I was seeing stars on my little commute home today, but it was worth every pedal stroke! The SS may have had something to do with it...

I almost pulled the nudist way today.  About 2 km from my house, I rode past a bloke in uniform...  A little light went on. And the thought struck...  Did I pack my shirt, undies and socks.  So I pulled a legal U-Turn and cycled home.

But when I got back on the road (about 20 minutes later than the time I try to leave) it was as if all hell broke loose.

Traffic was a nightmare.  People on their phones, no use of that indicator installed on most cars, no regard for the laws.  And 0 respect for other road users. And what is a red traffic light meant for?  Going over as fast as you can?  Next time I will rather take the motorbike or call in late for the day.

I need soft contact lenses for my commute.

Took a turn with the wind blowing sideways, and my lens decided it is time to leave my eye. Guess I looked a pretty foolish pick on all fours, looking for my lens. And I found it. Just feeling nasty to have to rinse the lens with water an pop it back in. Without my left eye, i can see a bit, but the left eye comes in at -5.75 so can't see a lot without my lens...
