Why not go both? Roadbike so much faster on the road than MTB.

MTBs are for for blokes with a good body insurance.

Wise man, Rob K, and welcome to the Hub. Just do it. You'll soon adapt to everything and wonder why you rode a truck when you can have a sports car.

I ride a Cervelo S1 & a Scott Scale.

I love both.

Is that possible - do I have a split personality?

No. Just flexible. I have a BMC SLX01 roadbike (running) and BMC FS02 full-suspension MTB (build in progress).

Deep down, Spartan, you probably dream with your roadbike in the mix, NOT your dustbowl bike...

Road cycling makes the legs very strong, MTB sort out balance and "driving" skills ;)

After doing a couple 94.7 cycle challenges and a Argus on a mountain bike, I also had enough and went over to the dark side. Not one regret so far. I still enjoy mountain biking, but mountain bikes should stay where they belong...offroad.

Welcome to the Hub

If I had to choose my last ride - it would be on the Cervelo ;)

guys, chill, MTBers are supposed to be more relaxed...

Anyway, still riding a bike.

So who cares?

Too many divisions in the sport of cycling.

Hi Guys,

Thanks so much for the quick and passionate responses.

I certainly didn't mean to hit a nerve which clearly lies lurking here on the hub.

Apologies for that.

For what its worth I will keep the MTB and give the roadie a go and report back.

I did start training a week ago so hopefully will be up for the 94,7 in time.

Regards to all,

Rob
