Sheeesh!!!! That is a lot of money! I have no experience with Frenchie's so cannot comment on whether they are worth it.

But after the last few months with an English in my life I would pay the R17k anytime (if I had the money :whistling: ). You get a lot of personality, and some looks , for your money!

Here's a pic of the two girls in my life:

*Edit: Take note, that is a "chair" she's sitting on!

i am all for paying a reasonable amount for a well breed dog. That being said I did that with my border collie and ended up with a dog that has hip problems before that age of 2.

The cost of a Frenchmen has something to do with the fact that they have to do artificial insemination and can only give birth by c section.

Anyway I was looking for a rescue pup as they do come along every now and then but all animal plans are on hold till I figure out if I am relocating or not.

She does not joke when there's food in question!!

As you can see from the photo she's extremely malnourished and only gets fed when I have visitors... Or that's at least what it looks like when I open the fridge, bread, packet of Simba chips or anything else that might be edible...

hahahaha sounds really cool. Any skin conditions or bad odors?

she cost 7k

from a top breeder in western cape shes pedigree and kusa registered

took the hit $$ because my other half fell for her (ive ordered my new carbon road frame and wheels so ill get something out of this year also  )

you have to buy well bred sharpeis (and bull terriers) or they can be a bit too agro which isn't good English bullies from a good breeder cost a bit less

you need to go for a good breeder and do a meet the parents etc with these breeds or you end up with agro dogs that have health issues from bad breeding

all the bad skin bad health stuff comes from badly bred "pedigree" dogs

and I will say this ..its better to spend a bit more and feed your dogs really good food than pay vet bills for all the issues that cheap dog food causes like skin and stomach problems etc

raw food for dogs isn't hard ..if a wild dog could rip it out of something or catch it - its food - wild dogs don't eat grain corn bread etc and they don't cook their food

tripes and butchers offcuts and organ meat don't look good to us but its what dogs eat and they don't have to have as much of it as they do with cheap less nutritious supermarket food so it winds up being about the same money wise

She's awesome indeed!

With regards to skin conditions: She gets eczema on her stomach due to too much chilling in the sun (she has albino patches). I've got her on Vet's choice food and wash her about every 2 weeks with Eczema shampoo which has it under control.

With regards to odors: None from her skin, folds or ears. She does get bathed, in the bath of course, every 2 weeks so no issues with infections etc. But she produces so much natural gas than Enron has made an offer to buy her... Farts like a freaking machine!!!!!

Ruby's settled in much better than we expected! She has found a mate in Ghost - although he still has his rough-and-tumble bud in Scar - and she is loving the afternoon walks! Took her out with Ghost yesterday so he could show her where you a dog can get good reception if they want to check their wee-mails.

Cool!

Meant to text you some pics last night...but I fell asleep on the lounge floor with Squams, Ghost and Scar around me, and my feet up on Ruby - she makes a pliant pouffe if you wiggle your toes a bit! - watching Wallace & Gromit. Jules was watching over my shoulder from the couch!

I know that paying zillions of Rs for dogs has been debated . However I still feel that nothing gives one more pleasure than adopting a dog from one of the rescue shelters. We had to " put down " one of our rescues resently and all that was lost ( if ever ) was our mutual love and affection. Her replacement just fills another void in our lifes.

Ok, so i have a problem.

I have managed to find a home for Layla (the female boxer).

My original plan was to home them together, but that does not seem to be working. Layla is still with me and the person that wants to adopt her agrees with me trying to home both of them together, so he is somewhat of a backup option.

I had found two homes for Tyson, but in both the homes, they have small male doggies. These little doggies barked and growled at Tyson. He barked and growled back and got the owners all freaked out ( i dont blame them - nobody wants fighting dogs)

So i am now looking for a home them both that preferably does not have other pets.

I know...long shot.

Do you have pics of the dogs?

Do they still have all their tools?

Registered or not?

House trained?

Here's one that Wayne sent me the other night...don't think he'll mind me posting it here.

Can't answer all the questions, but Scar was definitely "yes" to the last question.
