I looked at that, but Tumbles is too heavy and would have to go in 24 hours early. Don't want him to stress and be alone. Plan on flying in on Friday morning and leaving either late Sunday or early Monday.

On Mango, it looks like he be R1125!

SAA just say he'll be excess baggage, and give container costs, but am struggling to work out how much he be according to weight - http://www.flysaa.com/za/en/flyingSAA/baggage/excessBaggage.html - or am I just missing something?

Dark glasses, white stick, walking harness for tumbles (tape some sticks to the "reins" to stiffen them up a bit)....then remember not to check out any hot air hostesses on the flight!

Hahahahahaha! That's exactly what I was thinking!

Hmmm...seems as though they will charge R250? Seems very cheap, but they say that its a flat fee per piece of excess baggage.

Unless you fly business class, then its R350per piece.

And Im sure your vet will lend you a box for the weekend?

EDIT: Nope sorry - I see now they will charge double that rate for a big container eg. 125 x 75 x 85

how much does Tumbles weigh?

He's big for his breed and comes in between 40 and 45 - one vet remarked that he was the biggest goldie he had ever treated - and he have doesn't an ounce of fat on him...

...and my mother thinks he's underfed!

Thank you. It's the first time I've mentioned it. It was kinda hard to talk about so I kept it to myself. She was an awesome woof. She'll live on through the pics and feedback I get from the people who adopted her and Tumbles's pups. Like Spencer…

Sadly they'll still insist that tumbles ride in the back... and ask Mirriam to escort you everywhere...

Or they will just refuse to let you fly alone as they did with that paraplegic lady the other day...

Sjoe, the last roadtrip to Durbs with him was kinda stressful! That's why I was hoping that one hour in the hold shouldn't be too bad. May have some cash coming to me soon, so it won't be too bad to fork out an extra R2k to fly him down with me on SAA.

RIP Tashie cat, she went missing on Thursday and I found her yesterday. I don't like cats as a rule, but this cat was a character.

Sorry Deanbean

With cats it really does seem like the best ones use up their 9 lives way too fast.

RIP Tashie, may there be plenty of chooks for you to chase in kitty heaven.
