Palaeodom Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Thinking of building up a new XC/Trail machine and looking for a component suite. Are Momsen really decent? There aren't many user reviews I can find on the web. any opinions would be good. Its a choice between Momsen, KCNC, Easton and Ritchey
gummibear Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 They are all good but i like the Ritchey WCS range
Vinnydabutcher Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Have to say I ride Ritchey currently and would recommend it!!! Havent ridden Momsen. Contact Shamus at Bicicletta - they have some Ritchey stuff on special now.
Chubba Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Have momsen skewers and they are perfect. I would rate momsen better then some really soft KCNC stuff.
Lukep Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 If you going carbon go Easton, they make really good carbon stuff.
Palaeodom Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 I've got Easton carbon Hbars and they are excellent...just looking around to see what other components people rate. I've heard good things about Thomson...expensive but good.
Let's Ride Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 (edited) If you going carbon go Easton, they make really good carbon stuff. I would also go with Easton. But honestly it should all do the job. Edited October 26, 2011 by Scott 1
jmaccelari Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Victor has many years experience with Raleigh and (I believe) Volcan. I can't imagine him speccing cr@p and then putting his name on it. I've looked at his bikes and they are good quality at a good price.
gummibear Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Victor has many years experience with Raleigh and (I believe) Volcan. and Wheeler to,he designed one that was named after him
Azonic Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Momsen parts are the business. I swopped my FSA Carbon seatpost for a Momsen LB Post. Way lighter and actually came in 2 grams UNDER the claimed weight on the packaging. How often does that happen with "name" brand parts? Never. I would have gone for a momsen stem as well, had they had my length and color in stock when I wanted to buy. Look at the Momsen range, you won't be sorry. Local is lekker china!
b-unit Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Also have a Momsen LB seatpost. Nothing has gone loose and its super light. What more could yo want?
Longbarn Killer Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 When it comes to stems, bar ends, bars, seat posts etc, they are all the same. They all do exactly the same job. One brand may be a few grams lighter etc, but nothing to shout home about. Get the parts that look the nicest to you.
craig82 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I'm running Momsen Stem OV 110mm and the Carbon riser bar, soooo awesome. They both crazy light and very comfortable.Would recommend them any day.
Palaeodom Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 Anyone know where I can have a look at the bits in person?...the website doesn't seem to want to show me the dealer locations in JHB.
