After Cricket Oz’s media show this evening

James Sutherland says Darren Lehmann did not have prior knowledge of ball tampering. That sounds about right. Darren Lehmann strikes me as the sort of bloke who doesn't have prior knowledge of pretty much everything.

Don't quite believe that D. Boof is a thorough coach. I find it strange that he didn't know exactly what was going on on the field. It would be very out of character.

Ok. So anybody saw live press conference by CA chair?

Smith, Warner, Bancroft on a plane back to Aus. Their sanctions to be announced in 24 hours. In his words: "Sanctions will be issued tomorrow, it will be significant, and will reflect the severity of the situation."

Lehmann - nothing. Zip. Zilch. He was found not to have known.... REALLY????

Clear from interview by Mike Haysman with Jim Maxwell, ABC's cricket commentator, that Warner is the big sinner. He believes Warner to not ever play for Aus again.

According to Maxwell, it played out like this: Warner and Bancroft were discussing it during lunch and hatching a plan, Smith walked in/by, overheard, went and said: "What are you guys talking about? Never mind, I just don't want to know" and turned around and walked away.

He's almost feeling sorry for Smith...

I simply cannot for one minute believe that the quicks were not aware what was happening... especially Starc - their main proponent of reverse swing.

I mean really - the ball is doing absolutely zip before lunch, and then suddenly, like it was struck by lightning, it started reversing 2 overs after lunch...

It doesn’t make sense to me either. It’s a team sport and you are secretly (in your own team) doing something that cannot benefit your individual performance. Then if the team wins you have to byte your tong and smile deep within yourself even if you made no runs.

It’s quite sad that they spent good money to fly the boss here to understand what level of cover up will fly. And he came up with that... They may have to fly his boss over next who ever that is because this won’t stand the test of time any more than the initial press conference.

I watched the press conference live on Sky. What p!ssed me off about Sutherland's words was no apology to the South African cricket fans for ruining a very good series.

No class at the end of the day

Bavuma averages just over 31 in test cricket with 9 fifties and a hundred. De Bruyn averages just over 14 in test cricket with no fifties and no hundreds.

So why would you want to drop Bavuma for De Bruyn? Asking because I fail to see a relevant reason why.

Because how many games has Bavuma played by now to score 1 hundred? And De Bruyn?

I was actually more referring to the fact that Bavuma just got back from injury, and with no cricket under his belt walked straight back into the test team. And failed dismally. The guys must surely realise that whoever it is coming back from injury, be it AB, FAF, Bavuma, Steyn or whoever, needs to play a game or two franchise cricket before playing international cricket again.

But in general, yeah, I also think Bavuma isn't good enough. There was a lot of hype around him when he came onto the scene but he hasn't lived up to expectations. So for how long do you stick with him...?

De Bruyn hasn't really done much either in his first few games, but if they give a player say 10 tests to prove himself, then he should be given a chance as well. Or try the next best batsman in line..

I'm with you guys, everyone in that team knew what they were doing with the ball. Including the coach. The coach sending a msg to Bancroft after he got caught was clear as daylight. I think they are making Warner the scapegoat here (and rightly so), just because they cannot suspend the entire team and management. Rather single out a couple of players and focus on them..

I think there's more to come.. Fans, and Aussie fans too, want Lehman gone. I think he's going to resign after the SA series.. And I bet we'll here more about what really happened as players start to turn on each other. Which they already have by the sounds of it. At some stage Warner is going to open that big mouth of his and spill the beans..

Because TdB's First Class record is much better than TB's?

warner has gone rogue... and removed himself from the players whatsapp group

making warner the scapegoat here once again shows the "class" of lehmann

I'm still trying to picture this team within a team.

Having drinks after a big win:

Warner: Guys let's just raise a glass to Bancroft, he carried himself well out there in the field for a young bloke.

Everybody else: Okay?

Bancroft: Winks at Warner

Team meating after a big loss:

Lehman: The top order will be held accountable for not converting starts into big partnerships. We will be making some changes. But to the bowlers, we can't ask for more.

Bancroft: Hang on a minute, I cleaned up the middle and lower order there with reverse swing?

Exactly. 9 hundreds for TDB in 88 inns VS 12 hundreds in 194 inns for TB pretty much sums it up.

That's why I have an issue with TdB. If he is such a better batsman then he should've made far better use than what TB has. At international level TB has been the better batsman. Fact. I am not saying TdB doesn't deserve a chance but when he does get it he must get a score, a decent one. In the same manner that Markram has locked up the openers berth for the next while by way of example. Until TdB bring his domestic form into international cricket I would much prefer Bavuma.
