Three youths, approximately 18years old, attacked me riding on my own this morning at 10-30am on the R304 opposite Steyns Nursery just outside Stellenboach. They came across the opposite side of the road in a staggered formation and hit me off my bike at 45km/h. Took cell phone and bike and ran back across road down a gravel road. A passing motorist, Mr Dannie Sandenbergh, saw the incident and managed to chase down attackers with his vehicle and retrieve my bike. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN RIDING ON YOUR OWN!

Fixed it for you

PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN RIDING ON YOUR OWN! NEVER RIDE ON YOUR OWN!!

Hope you are ok man!! Big up to the motorist helping you out!!

Golden rule i apply when riding my motorcycle and which i will also apply once i get a MTB is NEVER RIDE ON YOUR OWN!!.

The practice you get in when riding alone just aint worth getting attacked and losing your stuff or getting seriously injured, or maybe falling and needing help and there is none!

My 2 cents

That is not always possible man! If I had to wait and only ride with others, I would only be able to ride my bike on a Sunday. Schedule does just not allow.

Most of my riding over the last 3 months has been commuting to and from work between Somerset West and Durbanville, your welcome to join me. We can start a club.

Tx H,

Cheers

Was it there past Kayamandi? That stretch past there is notorious for bike jackings.

I go via Kromme Rhee Rd to avoid that stretch if I have to go solo into Stellenbosch - prefer the R44.... It's just not worth it to have the risk of getting jacked, robbed, injured (and possibly fatally).

Heal well man!

Glad you made it out quite OK-ish. It could have been worse.

We need to do something. Take back our cities, lives, roads and country. If you or someone you know has been attacked drop an email to leader@da.org.za and ask for something to be done. If enough of us do at least this hopefully somebody will listen.

[i refuse to be a passenger any longer on this downward-spiral train.]

This makes me think now, a while ago I was cycling on the R44 and there were 3 young males with sticks on the side of the road close to Kromme Rhee...I was a bit fast past them to get close but I think they were trouble makers but since they have not attacked me I didn't really take notice.
