I dont think so either. I use (non UST) mountain king front and race king rear and its great for me. No issues yet after 10mnths (touch wood) :)

Yikes - just realised I never responded to caad4 - thanks!

@candy - i prefer the feel of the race king - i found the mtn king a bit "thick" if that makes sense? It made the path feel quite remote whereas with the race king you feel every little bump and lump.

@caad4 - I've never had an issue either - done sani2c, sabie x, loads of the mtn marathons and xc without incident.

I run mine at 1.9bar - I'm 80kg.

Also how do you rate the Captain Control / Fast track combo?

Excellent Combo, the Captn is awesome all round on the front and the fastrak rolls great on the rear, you could een slide a renegade on the back to save another 100g and roll a bit quicker. the fastrak seems like it's a bit of a bigger volume though for HT's

Whoa! Tractor tyre!

I have 2.2 front and back. I got all paranoid before 2010 Sani2c and banged on 2.4 mtn kings front and back. Rode them for exactly 8km took them off and popped the race kings back on.

Twas a VERY wet Sani2c and no worries at all on the race kings. I'm a believer!!!

I run the Conti Mountain King 2.4 Front and Race King 2.2 Rear. Love it. At serious loose downhills (Lionman 80 ) I just found the Race King to like to start sliding under braking.

I am 91kg and did the Nissan Teak this weakend at 1.4 Bar Front and 1.6 Bar Rear with no issues. I have run them as low as 1.2 Bar at Groenkloof.

With the bigger volume you can go way lower. I've sat on a 26er at 2.2 Bar and we measured the distance from floor to rim and did the same on the 29er at 1 Bar and the 29er still had lot's more body!

I also find my race king a bit slippery on the loose stuff. Wow, those are low pressures. Im 56kg's and mine are about 1.7......think ill run them much lower and give Groenkloof or Rietvlei a try on the weekend.

I like the way the race kings slide - nice and predictable. The bicycle version of drifting!

@aggies - that is low. Wow. I was making mine burp under 1.8 bar. I also love the signature - good work!
