I thought about doing this one, but it seems I'm getting bronchitis right about now. Great timing. Let's see what magic antibiotics and cortisone can do - if only before the Argust.

Aarrrgh no, man.

Get well soon!

Is it really worth all the trouble upgrading? I can upgrade from S to O but thought I'll just wait for the new numbers next year?

Mads - with very little remaining ito funrides, that's my feeling as well, why bother, esp with a smallish jump in groups. Start in a fresh group next season!

The answer is yes and no.

The latter half of the riders don't really know how to ride well in groups and is often every man for himself. Also you get a wide variety of strength of riders which makes it difficult for the groups to ride well together.

I want to push myself and see how far I can upgrade. In the Roller Coaster I came 5th in N group, so I am certain I can do even better in a faster group plus it will be good training for the Argus. I can possibly even improve my seeding for next year's number from K to I, which would make a difference.

If you consider that there are only 3 races left for the year in which the seeding number is valid, then its probably not the best idea.

Yes that is what I found ..... and that is what made me wonder. Up till now I have been one of those lone rangers and hope that if I actually get the opportunity to ride in bunches, I can improve my time even more. I make a call on Sunday when I pass the PPA tent and see how long is the cue. :)

@ Tiny! Did you do the race today?

Nope, him and 'Dale did a Franschoek pass training ride. Think I saw them next to the road at the T junction after Pniel.

Started in H with udxcob. Pace from the beginning was manageable. Couple of guys (about 15) got away on Helshoogte. Rest of us formed a nice big group and worked well together. NO FALLS, NO ONE GOING OVER THE WHITE LINE (and for most of the race we did not have a Marshall with us, only on the last stretch leading in to Stellies did we have one) Guys policed themselves, and behaved.  .

I started cramping on the stretch leading up to the R44, and the bunch slowly pulled away from me. udxcob nursed me home . THANKS BUD.

Finished with a 2:50 odd on my Polar. About 15 minutes faster than last year. http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.thehubsa.co.za/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.png

One of the U16's touched wheels up Helz, this was already the top 8, he was in 6th, so he crashes, me and another guy take evasive action which involved us swerving all over the road.

So then we get dropped because of the gap, so it's now 3 upfront from an earlier break, 6 in the "main bunch" 2 in the 2nd bunch on the road (me and this other guy) and then the guy who crashed (JC Jantjies)

By the top of helz I've dropped the one guy, caught 2 from the break, and JC came flying past me.

Rode the rest of the ride with one of the guys from the break, who refused to work at all, so I paced from 20-60km by myself, no one caught us, we passed the last person from the break, and low and behold, I get out sprinted after working for 45km.

Finished with a 1:59 so can't really complain, think I was 8th.

Enjoyed it though, great training

I got my timing wrong, so missed our start. Went with F/G instead of E. Still got dropped on Hels. Almost vomited. Managed to regroup on the other side (my specialty). Put in quite a bit of work taking turns up front.picked up several Aca Joe bunch riders. Ran out of water @ Spier & then cramped on the first Annandale hill. Managed to get back on the group, but probably finished last out of our alphabet soup bunch. Dist: 97.3km. Time: about 2:42. Avg speed 36km/h. Avg HR: 159bpm. Good training!
