Results are a f%k up again.

Winner of LL bunch did a 2:12! Avg 52kph!

Also been entrants have been double counted!

Sigh...

Results just been taken down! Similar errors to last week at Emperors: duplications, long and short ride mixed. Only real difference this week was the turn around time was even longer. Anyone from Racetec care to comment?

Started with AL and finished with AL main group . . . (I think) Had a good fast race. Very Happy with my avg speed at 40,5km/h and time of 2h52 and a few seconds

Thank you to everyone involved ! ( I like this race! )

Was also with AL, was quite impressed; safe race, and most guys had decent bike handling skills!! Will ride with this bunch any day!!

I dont know whether it is my imagination but I have done al 3 JHB races so far this year (Fast One, Emperors,Dischem) and the quality of the marshalling has improved by 100% versus the previous years. the guys on the motorbikes are really doing a tremendous job. They are very involved and keep everything in perfect control. Thanks again for the marshalls in the VA group.

VB's posted faster times than VA. THAT is how BORING the VA race was.......nice chat along the ride and some tea....

Did you go down as well? sort off remember seeing you there....you must have been up in no time. I had a mess, got up...bike tangled...get on...chain off..get off put chain back, get back on...breaks rubbing because the calliper shifted and wheel is buckled. Finally head down chase like crazy, only to miss the marshal were we needed to turn.

Sounds like i did not miss much...but would have loved to have been part of te race at least.

I like this race and the organisation was great, a few thoughts:

- too many inexperienced / weak riders in the racing categories

- the finish (also the 94.7 finish) could do with a re-think in my opinion - they should finish the sprint on the main road. odds are these races end in a sprint and as it is, you need to take a lot of risks to be at the front. every year there are crashes and lots of near-crashes

- negative racing - perhaps hot spots / sprints / kom's could be included for all / some racing categories

Logistically, we looked at having the finish on the main road, however it was canned. The main reason being that PA, annoucers, stage, food and all the associated is in the stadium area, logistically it is not possible to have a finish area that far away, and still retain event continuity. Sure, it's a tricky finish, but that's racing, no? I mean look at the VA's all fall down on a perfectly straight piece of road...

The riders who qualify to race in a particular category is not determined by the race organisers. Sorry.

In previous years we have had KOM and hotspots for the Elites and Ladies. Ended up costing too much, as CSA had to send extra officials, and the race organiser has to pay for the privilege of Ma and her cronies to be there.

a thumb is not a finger, but sure ;)

Was riding just behind you, you guys came down hard. Glad to see you are okay, not sure what 1st guy was doing that took you out. Straight clean road and all.

That was a FUN ride! Great to see my friends out there (Crazy Child, Slow Poke and a few others). Although I tried pedalling, I found my throttle worked better for my bike. I really need to practice changing tired!! Eish.

Not really the Carnival finish and hospitality area are separate and last weeks Emperors was quite a distance from finish to medal and hospitality area. But imo i prefer the finish as is, the section down to the stadium is @##$% fast so its nicely broken up by the turn then slight incline to the finish and it offers great spectator value.

Only problem was the gravel on that left turn.... wonder how many people went down there?

I went wide, and nearly ran out of road. Was going a bit too fast so had not time to look around for gravel

Did not see the gravel, but perhaps the orgs can sweep it for next year. The finish could move a bit higher up the road which also has an incline but then it will be too close to the main gate and hinder the cars leaving.

It's the first time I did this race since I crashed and lost my teeth there a few years ago. The goal was to ride past where I crashed. I had a good ride, but I did see the paramedics help some crashed cyclists.

Late entry, ML. 3:27 ITT.
