The sad thing is Scuzzy that every year we hear the same old complaints RE the goodie bag, yet nobody there seems to give a damn.

 

cause every year they get 30000 more entries so why should they?

@CyclingJan, ag, you know, it's probably not so much want you want, it's more about the getting nothing, if that makes sence at all, look pedals won't work though, as I alreay have those

 

But like @CatGirl says, just go out and enjoy the racing ne

 

Still just feel like an anti climax for a race that is sort of suppose to be one of the bigger races. I'm sure even the Atta offers more

For those that haven't caught the irony: there is no goodie bag. Nothing, nada, zip. Not even a bic pen.

 

If the money saved is going to a decent cause then I'm happy. If it's going into some fat cats pocket then I'm disappointed.

 

I guess at the end of the day, we choose which race/event we want to ride. I'm sure we all expected nothing (but hoped for something) - so the ball is in our court so to speak. We make the final decision to cough up or not.

What is scary is that it also means that nobody think it is important to add any sort op sponsorship to this event, yet Stillwater sports, works wonders with their sponsorship

What upset me also is the fact that I had to pay R8 for parking. I must have been there for all of 5 minutes. In and out. Flash and dash.

All ppa events at this time of the year are cash cows and it is for this reason that I decided to not ride the mtb event this year. Being in the prize money last year barely covered the entry fee, which for an event of this size is dismal. There are smaller events on the calendar which give excellent value for money, awesome routes, great organisation and vibe.

Ride the race thats why you entered not for the goodie bag.....where does it state you need to get a bag?

Some person started it and now everybody does it.......99% of the time they give useless **** with it

If they want to differentiate between a top class event and a normal ppa event they sure can do more from their side and, sure everybody started doing this, but this is our premium event in the country, act like it then

Scuzzy, fully agree with you on this one. I'm not that busy at work during the week but still needed to leave everything for almost 2hrs to stand and get my number. If no goodies are supplied why not let each entrant collect on race day(logistics can always be figured out). As for the other comments about why we want goodie bags, if they don't like an unexpected "gift" sorry but I like a suprise every now and then(even though I paid much moola to enter the event). Just human nature I guess. My 2 cents.

I didn't enter this year... if everyone follows suit maybe they'll start caring.

 

Regarding the goody bag: If they make the event much cheaper (like 30-50% cheaper) the goody bag (or lack there of) might not be such a big issue anymore.
