Hi CWC

Thank goodness someone is taking the initiative to do something. Do the importers not think that we travel the world and see for ourselves what products cost overseas....do they not think that we have internet and that the world is now a small place... the days of cartels and monopolies are over. You can be assured of my support and I hope that through your continuous good prices cycling will become affordable to the masses.

No doubt the wholesalers will deny the allegations of collusion, but it would be nice if J&J and Coolheat could give the cycling public a credible reason as to the fairly large price differences between "authorised dealer" prices and those of CWC.

It is my understanding that CWC's retail prices for Campagnolo are more or less the same as what the LBS pays for Campag.

I'm sure that being the "authorised dealer", J&J is able to get the best possible prices for Campag stuff, so how is it possible that CWC and other, foreign, online retailers are undercutting it?

Brandon, that was so stupid! I have always been a good supporter of Raleigh and probike! Even bought my youngster a raleigh.

But now that i've seen what attitude and kind of person you really are.... i wont spend another send on any probike product, neither refer anybody to!

I dont think CWC's account has anything to do with us, so a comment like that from Probike is uncalled for.

However...as Omar pointed out, its bound to become a slug fest. And I look forward to all the sex scandals, bad language and "mother" calling to follow!

But...if CWC are willing to sell stuff at decent prices...then I am willing to do business with them!!

A little competition never hurt anyone...and if I can score RECORD out of it, great stuff!!

Two things matter to me when it comes to cycling componenents or any other imported stuff for that matter), a) my limited time and b) cash left in my back pocket.

So, if you claim to be an agent, best u work out how to save my time (supply replacement parts in good time, paid for or under warranty irrelevant) and dont rip me off cause you think u have a monopoly - that NO LONGER EXIST - BUSINESS REALITY 101.  If you call uself an agent you supply AND service at acceptable levels (spare parts & the works), otherwise please declare uself merely an "importer" providing "support"and parts on a best effort basis, and then  u cant charge a X000 premuim for "support" that does not exist - dead simple.

Dont tell me the criticall mass dont exist to keep parts, if so, you are a

useless business person going into an unviable business proposition, under capitalised and not cabaple of buidling up and establishing a brand, and with that being the case I prefer to deal with the greater (worldwide - internet)  network who can deliver into my (lesser) expectations.

End of debate and cheers

Super, have you actually read the first posting? If you use somebody's capital then don't threaten them. Thats something thats had to be said in the SA bike industry for a long time. And seen that the first posting ventured into these waters.

Yu might be interested to know the I just bought 2 x Hope stems and 5 x ODI grips from Chainreaction.

Brandon lets face it buddy - you pushed the envelope here. CWC never named names, - you broadcast highly confidential info on a public platform which was uncalled for and highly unprofessional. In fact you did the Probike & Raleigh name a huge diservice here. Frankly if i were your boss i'd fire your ass for that comment, or at least (in terms of our labour laws) you would be up for a formal diciplinary.

Excactly... Brandon, if i were your boss! Start finding a new job!

And Brandon, lets make it easy, cant you give us some proof, or you also a puppet??

I am very disappointed with Mr Els.

Comments like that are defamatory, vindictive and contravene the supplier / customer code of ethics.

.......Certainly changed my opinion of Pro -Bike as a company.

On another point, I think we must be very carefull to differentuate between "GREY" and "PARALELL IMPORTS" - the former been imported through dubious channels, not paying duty or vat thereby giving the importer an unfair advantage in the market, it can occassionally also refer to counterfeight products, the latter is the same product from the same manufacturer just sourced through a differant channel and all duties ,vat etc is paid as per regulations - (ie) Original in every way, with no unfair advantage to the importer.

Another point raised here was "b level" goods - I assume this to mean the same as "counterfeit" - simply because no manufacturer of original branded product will allow rejects or seconds into the market in any form or type.

In my opinion there are very few "Counterfeit" products in existance in todays bicycle market, (in some markets like Sunglasses, watches, belts etc its still seen, but the market is changing quickly and high end cycles are a small market with a high risk for counterfeit product) anyway, most Asian manufacturers are so tied in with major manufacturing brands that they would never dare to chance manufacturing a "grey line" - it could mean the end to their business as there are also heavy financial, criminal penalties in the Asian market if caught doing this.
