My brother (Flippa) and I have a serious old school collection of Lego... The old airports and stuff! Still all safely packed away!

If I remember correctly one of the sets is something similar to the below...

This is the set ngala24's kid had at pop's yesterday. I had an older version of it, before you could add the +Power Functions add-ons to it. Mine was black and yellow...

Capetonians should be in for a treat, with the new Hamleys store opening in the V&A later this year. Lego should be prominent there, as it is reported to be cheaper here than in the UK.

It is cheaper here. Marvellous...

HAMLEY'S!!! Loved that place when I was there. Yes, I am a big kid at heart.

Who can remember all the Lego sets they grew up with? According to my mom, I first started with Lego in the mid 80's, and had my last Lego set in the early 90's. I can remember a few of the Lego people I had, but for the love of bikes I can't remember any of the sets.

LEGO Set Reference - By Decade.

These are some of the ones I can remember owning. Had a lot more than this, but more than half of it was given away after I stopped using it...

EDIT: Actually still have bits of all of them. From a full cubic metre of blocks, all I got given when I moved down to CT again is 5 half-filled ice-cream containers.

Miffed.

I had one like that.  When my wife and I moved in she actually chucked all my lego away.  After I showed her the price of Lego to replace them with new blocks she regrets that big time.

SHE DID WHAT!!!?

Divorce material, that. Or, a permanent pink slip.

Argument with the wife:

Her: You *&*&@! How dare you a: come home drunk; b: look at that woman; c: Buy that for yourself; d: Virtually any other argument in the book

You: Lego.

Instant win.
