Shebeen Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Random person: "so xxxx tells me you're a mountianbiker, have you done the Epic?" There should be some good one line responses to this! don't hold back.I don't have a 4" d1ckmy bike costs less than R100k, would they let me ride? ps. of course not aimed (intentionally) a s jybe to those okes who have done it, I'm aware that some people LIVE for this race. good on them.
SwissVan Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Ow bout an option to say you have dunnit.... Getting asked if you have done the Argus and 94.7 is faaar worse imo At least here in la la land most cyclists have heard of the Epic, Argus not really and 94.7 draws complete blank looks....
TNT1 Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Getting asked if you have done the Argus and 94.7 is faaar worse imo Because of that I don't tell people I ride a bike.
SwissVan Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Because of that I don't tell people I ride a bike. Well at least you can say u have done the Argus and 94.7
Guest Omega Man Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 You're not a real Mountain Biker until you done the Epic.
Eldron Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 R20K is too rich for my blood. Great value for experience - but soft, smelly, lumpy *** value for money. Thread magazine ran an article on if we are being ripped off at stage races based on the actual costs of staging the event. To my mind they got it completely wrong - I really don't care if Kevin drives a Bently or a Beetle - R20K is terrible value for money. I've said it before and I'll say it again - for that kind of moola I'd rather spend a week being pampered in a luxury hotel in Zanzibar than spend a week living in a tent riding my bike around Cape Town. If, however, I got a media/sponsored/rich sugar mommy entry I'd be there tomorrow! NeillUngerer 1
gummibear Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I often get asked if i have done The Argus....but never been asked about the Epic.I would like to do it one day but for now i have to many other things to do.
Stretch Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 bit of both for me - too expensive - as eldron says - i could go on a cruise to for the same price - and the personal commitment right now to be ready for it is just too much. Maybe when the kids are out of school......
Guest Omega Man Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 for pretty much the same money you could do the Trans Provence. INCLUDING flights to Europe. http://www.trans-provence.com/dates.shtml nigelhicks and Zook 2
LeTurbo Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I find people asking, "When are you doing the Tour de France?"

TNT1 Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I'm waiting for the Non-Stop EPIC before I throw my bucks at it...all 8 stages in one; one start, one finish, no support, balls to the wall till you done...6 day cut-off...whoohaaa! Just do the Freedom Challenge then.
Ceres Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I think there would be more chance of me doing it if it was an individual race. Spoke to alot of guys who have done it, the weaker partner doesnt want to do it again with a stronger partner and the stronger partner doesnt want to do it again with a weaker partner.
Wayne Potgieter Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Cant. My bikes got a puncture and i dont know how to fix it. Taps 1
