How old is this bike?

I found this bike in Cape Town. It is still used to ride to work daily.

How old is it and is it worth anything? (Maybe I watch American Pickers too often)

Worth a lot more in age than money.

Late 70's, on the 80s cusp. With the downtube shifters, the 12-speed (as we called them) was a huge step up from the mid-70s 10-speed. That stem is also fairly advanced.
