They are Krux. Ordered them from Dragon via the bike shop. If you want some, give me a shout and I can order. Have just bolted them to a gold board. Suitably trashy :-)

AWESOME! Thanks, I'll keep those in mind.

I hope that is a mini gun if you are planning to spray a frame - full size gun just wastes a lot of paint and hard to manage on tubing - too much paint and it sags quickly.

You really only need a touchup gun for frames - 0.7 tip size works best for me, and 1.0 for spray filler - but I prefer to not use spray filler - epoxy primer is better if there is no fill needed.

Those tip sizes on a full size gun equate to about 1.2 and 1.8

At the end of the day it turned out OK. Frame was stripped and left raw. Wanted to seal it with an orange tinted clear coat. Was hoping to find a candy clear but no luck down here in this sleepy town called Durban.

First attempt was a bust. (Tried tinting the clear coat but the additive I used delayed the paint from going hard... Note to self, listen to the panel beaters and suppliers when they tell you that you can't tint clear and still let it stay translucent...) On top of that, too much paint and incorrect settings on the gun resulting in plenty runs.

Figured I would let the paint dry and sand the runs out with 1000/1200 water paper and buff but the paint didn't harden (Mixed 2:1:1 clear, hardener and thinners)

Out came the stripper and we started again :(

Second attempt, less paint, adjusted the air and the fan and all went well. (Touch up gun probably would have been better though but no ways I wasn't going to use the new gun... :) )

All logos were masked and sprayed. Ended up with two runs which were sanded out and buffed. Clear coat hardened nicely as well.

Very happy with the way it turned out though and I think it is fair to say that at this point in time, Bogus has nothing to worry about

Clear is one of the biggest pains to spray, especially for the backyard types like me, without sufficient lighting its near impossible to judge the thickness of the coats, but as you discovered, the odd run can be buffed out successfully.

So far one of the easiest colors I've painted is matte black, hits the frame all nice and shiny and within a few seconds starts to matte, very easy to paint with, I had gloss paint under with the decals masked off, got some ridges around the edges when i removed the masking though, would probably use less hardener in future to allow the edge to settle more.

We should start a thread around respraying frames, perhaps Bogus would make an appearance to share some tricks with us amateurs.

That is seriously impressive. Beautiful.

I love it when someone turns an old bike into a head turner.

How about some full pics of the bike?

There is a thread - search a bit and you should find it.

Overall width of the tyre won't change by much.

See:

WIDE RIMS CHANGE TO TIRE SIZE:

Going to wider rims, the tire's circumference doesn't grow taller. I've closely measured rollout curcumference which calculates to tire height, and measured knob width too. Using the same 2.3 Pacenti neo-moto tire on a 650b x 40mm Derby Rims compared to a 28mm Blunt, the tire doesn't grow taller, the tire is no higher at the center knobs, and the edge knobs are actually a very small measurement narrower, about 0.0225 inch  or 0.6 mm narrower. But the edge knobs do "stand up" a little higher making a more "square" tread profile, and these edge knobs do come closer to the arch of a fork or yoke of a chain-stay by about 1.5mm, so it is slightly closer clearance above the edge knobs.

why are you measuring your knobs?
