They came with my wide lightnings and I thought I might as well give em a chance before writing them off. Plus new tyres are *** expensive. But... I've taken tumbles on each of my last couple rides. First I saw my ass on plumber, which wasn't too surprising. But then again on Eden jumpline and AGAIN the AM track off Tokai's DH1. Supposedly, trails I'm a little more versed in. Now that I have a fresh roastie over one that was busy healing. I'm just about ready to set these tyres on fire. Vittoria Morsa on the front. And Barzo at the back. What *** tyres these are. NEXT! The rear one is on its last and I was thinking moving the front XR3 at the back and putting a XR4 in its place. Do you reckon Maxxis offer better value? Do you reckon Maxxis offer better value?I would reckon the maxxis are still better value as they offer superior traction. But you won`t be disappointed if you do go with the XR4 up front. s14phoenix Posted March 14, 2018 Share I have never since fallen so hard and nearly face planted as frequently as when I had Bontrager XR2 Team issue tyres (2.4 front 2.2 rear) on a Spez Stumpy I had - thosewhere really crap met 'n K. - a 2.1 Crossmark has more grip as a front tyre. I would reckon the maxxis are still better value as they offer superior traction. s14phoenix Posted March 14, 2018 Share Nah, we don't need to do that. you do it all by yourself... BTW - I have a 2.35 up front. But it's a schwobbly, which, like WTB, understate their sizing by quite a bit. Incidently - schwobbly's XC tyres have far less volume with at the same ratings as their beefier counterparts... Rara and Roro have far smaller volume casings at 2.25 than typically a Nic and Hans etc. and now... back to AM tyres...
