Erm, NO - it most certainly is not similar to the wolverine. Vastly different characteristics, and a very, very grippy tire. I had the wolverine at the front and back at one time, and changed the front to a Weirwolf shortly thereafter. VASTLY different performance.

It's on par with the Bronson (that's what "replaced" it according to our distributors, who no longer brought the Weirwolf in)

Vigilante is also getting RAVE reviews...

Ok cool.

I've only seen it in 29er guise and it didn't look much different in comparison.

It appears that the WTB Bronson is not available in 27.5. What would the alternative be for a front tire?

At the moment I have WTB Wolverine 2.2s front and back, whichm was an emergency change from Nobby Nics that let me down.

I would prfer to stick to WTB so the sidewalls match.

Currently running a WTB Vigilante 2.3 front and Beeline 2.2 rear

The wolverine is SUPER wide though. The 2.2 is equivalent, if not bigger than a 2.5 Minion.

So maybe the Vigilante then, although I would like to see it next to the Wierwolf first.

Even the Wolverines at front and back are better than the Nobby Nics I had on. I don't think I will easily buy a Schwalbe tire by choice...

Vigilante is a beast. I guess a Beeline is cool if you like to slide the back wheel a bit. Not a fan of Nics either.

Got the Beeline as it was on sale at closing down sale of the Cyclelab in Cape Town

Apparently the Beeline is brilliant until you introduce mud.

Very true.

Rolls fast and grips well, but the tightly spaced knobs get packed with mud

You running tubeless, those are low pressures, must grip like crazy.

Yeh Tubeless.. grips good and they roll pretty quick. Then you hit sand then they wash out and mud isn't that great either. For me I need something a little more aggressive at the front. They work great in the dry fast and good value.

So would you buy 2.25 HDs next time? I'm looking at getting one for the front, but I'm afraid that the 2.35 is going to be too tractor. I have 2.35 Nic at the moment and that's pretty big. Flowtrail rims.

sorry just saw this now.

nope i dont think i would buy the 2.25, i like very wide rubber and am happy with the width i have i was just referring to the fact that they look very wide. i had MK2's before and the 2,4 was narrower by sight than the HD. they do seem wider than the bronsens but at 2.3 vs 2.35 i would expect that, perhaps not as much a it seems though.

There is less than 1mm between the HD and the Bronson. ;)

Flowta how did you find the Fluid and Flow. I'm looking to get some new tyres ASAP.

my rear magic mary got ripped pretty badly riding on friday, and now that its fairer weather with drier conditions, decided to slap on the Schwalbe Rock Razor (Snakeskin, Pacestar) that's been sitting on me shelf for a few months now. Bit of a pain to get onto the rim (Mavic EN 821), then it took a while to seal properly.

On the trail, it has pretty good grip in conditions typical of Tokai. It didn't slip on the climbs i thought it would slip. Rolls pretty darn fast and the side knobs are as good as the Magic Mary I had on previously.

But the thing I missed was the support offered by the 4-ply sidewall on SG carcasses. Under hard cornering, you can feel the 2-ply sidewalls rolling over. In one of the berms, it felt like the rear was about to ride up the berm wall. Cool trick if intentional. Guess I could get accustomed to the feel, but for the moment, it feels a bit sketch. (for the sake of full disclosure, I'm a bit of a lard ass. The sidewall buckling could very well be rider weight related)

Also, after a few hard corners and a bit of rough, the pressure had dropped significantly. Will give the tyre a proper looking at tonight to see if there are any stan's bleeds, but there were none yesterday after the ride was done.

The Good: excellent grip on both climbs and descents, rolls fast.

The iffy: 2-ply sidewalls and holding pressure under rough conditions.
