Geez! Tough crowd. These guys are literally at their limit, and we're all expecting these guys to jump out of the saddle and dance up a mountain. The excitement is not in an attack or sudden change in pace to ride away. The excitement is watching these guys applying their will to not give up. Its war of attrition out there!

I think wiggo could have done himself a helluva lot of good pr if he counter attacked nibali yesterday. instead he just pulled back up to his wheel and slotted in.

If he had got to the col peyrasourde even 2m ahead of froome and nibali, then there wouldn't be all this 'is the froomedog better?' talk.

The irony, is that by not attacking he's actually sort of keeping it interesting. Imagine if he had a 5min lead by now?

edit:got my mountain passes mixed up

Would have been nice if Froome was allowed to attack Nibali yesterday after they caught him again. Froome is only 18 seconds in front of Nibali so he has all the justifcation he needs to try put some more time into him.

Maybe today?

You think? And if Nibali goes with him leaving Wiggo behind?

I'm finding the GC race slightly boring. I know Wiggins doesn't have to, but I'd love to see HIM throwing an attack and laying it down a bit. I'm not going to go into Armstrong and doping and whatnot, but at least Armstrong while in yellow, still attacked off the front. Wiggins just sits pretty. It'll get the job done, but its boring.

JIp......way boring.

And have to agree......Armstrong SHOWED everyone he was the strongest.

With Wiggens everyone wonders if he is the strongest..

That is what you get if you drink tea and have sideburns like that.

Maybe they should issue some razor blades for the other contenders. 5 min bonus for the guy who manages to shave Wigs sidies while riding. Should spark things up. :whistling:

On Saturday he will show everyone who is the strongest. Don't you worry.

TDF organisers should "juice" up the entire peloton for today's last mountain stage (some might get double servings thou!)

Let's get some real action !!

Yeah. I used to love the Armstrong formula, whether in yellow or not, first proper mountain stage, he'd go off the front and lay down a marker. Epic.

As in red blood cell boosted by EPO marker?

Evans is just riding like k@k this year.....

We all seem to forget that Wiggins crashed early on last year, well before anything got going. It's my opinion that Evans had an easier ride last year because of the absence of Twiggo, he knew AC had to race clean because of the steak thing and that he easily had the beating of the other GC contenders in the TT, so all he had to do was sit on their wheels. The one day AS got away, Evans has to chase, and he did, knowing that if he pulled AS back he would own him in the TT.

This year the Sky train has just ridden everyone except Nibali off their wheels. Too much pressure for too long. Evans would have battled with the same pace last year.

In the TT. Yay, showing people you are good at what we all know you are good at. That's going to shut up the critics.

Returning to the OPs original question: I don't think that Cadel is the only clean guy there. Sky has blown away the peleton on every climb but comparatively their average speed has been much slower to that of some of the big names of the sport in the "less clean" era.

Saw this on Twitter:

@Scienceofsport: Wiggins & co today climbed at 1680m/h for 24:28 (~6W/kg). VAM issues aside, compare to historical Tour performances: http://pic.twitter.com/Tc8UD0ur

They don't even come close to the bottom of the list (albeit a very elite list of riders).

It may not be enough to conclude that everyone is squeaky clean, but things are moving in the right direction.

The only problem I have with this "right direction" is that the race for yellow has become more and more boring. Just saying...

Yep, IF? then Froome slows down again

Did not look like Wiggins was having difficulty yesterday
