That's how mob rule arises.

So Mods, why have you not locked this yet? It went off Topic pages ago?

Seems to me you use all kinds of excuses to justify your actions?

You cannot win this faait, I know, they are like the Mafia and they even have a godfather.

By the way you will even lose more respect with the Hub fraternity if you steal the avatar of another old and well respected, it will get you nowhere friggen fast.

I have been banned for less that some of the rubbish going on here on this forum of late, so fella's get over it.

The thread was locked as the reports from members who did not like the thread had to be respected.

@Slowbee, I still honestly feel that you go off on a power trip at times.

The thread in question was actually quite interesting with many questions asked as well as many questions asnwered.

One thing I will add, it has forced me to ask certain questions and look at things from a perspective I never would have looked at.

Lastly, I reckon the one reason some are upset that it was locked is that it got many members active, the reason I am here is to kill time and meet like minded people and have some fun and chit-chat, if this is what you want, simply create another thread which gets the members active and talking.

In the end of the day it's all good for the forum as it gives it a high activity rate.

One suggestion form my side.

Every new member needs to get to a 100 post count before they come and slag shops off the way the guy in the Linden thread has done.

I reckon by a 100 posts most people will have some idea how this forum and it's members operate.

Hi Niner,

Spinnekop has already given an answer to your questions, but hopefully this will provide some clarity.

I would like to know why Slowbee so often locks a topic? Closes it or delets it?

The ASG one come to mind? The warning he often issues. "your warning level had increased"

Why was the ASG one deleted. Even if the OP asked? Surely other people also had simulat questions and could then search to see what was said?

Slowbee clearly does not like certain people on the hub and I have been watching thus for months now. He needs to drop the attitude.

Slowbee is simply carrying out his duties as a moderator. He is one of the more active moderators in terms of carrying out actions (deleting, closing, warning, etc.). In most cases where we receive reports on content, it's a clear cut scenario which we've dealt with before and the actions to be carried out are straight forward.

In other cases input from the moderation team is required, we'll discuss the best course of action and one of us will carry out this action (as was the case with the Batman thread and many others).

The ASG thread was a simple case, a request we quite often receive and Slowbee's actions were spot on.

Often members post a thread and realise it was either out of line or in some way unnecessary and request removal.

I agree, in some cases the question / comment and ensuing discussion might be of value to others and we may look to retain the thread or at least portion of it. Based on the responses in the thread and the short period of time it had been open that did not seem necessary in this case. A thread with more than a page of valuable discussion may be a different story.

Since when is it a forum rule that if you off Topic that the topic will be closed?

Those comments should be removed NOT lock the topic? And it also seems that we are not allowed to ask question about Moderation? Secrecy bill?

We do endeavour to save a topic from deletion or closure by removing individual posts, however this is not always possible. In some cases closure of a thread (or even deletion) is necessary and we reserve the right to do so.

Not every one will agree with the actions and by all means question them, but do so with some respect and in a constructive manner.

I hope provides some clarity.

Regards,

Matt

I would also like to add that lately there has been a lot of self righteousness floating around here. People need to get over themselves. You are allowed to have an opinion without having the satisfaction of ramming it down someone's throat. Let somebody make a statement. If it offends you hit the report botton or click the Back buitton or the close window button on your browser. The only thing that happens when you start an argument is that your blood pressure and those of some of the rubberneckers goes up.

I read the batman thread. Most of it went against what I believe in but I didn't blow a gasket and start flinging handbags. I left a comment and moved on. I think that to a certain extent your reactions and interactions on an online forum show your level of maturity. I have thrown a few handbags in my time eher but come to realise that this place is made up of a lot of different people and the sooner you become more tolerant the better for you. There are always going to be trolls. You just need to have your troll goggles handy to be able to indentify them.

If you guys were applying the rules then you should have locked or deleted this one for going off-topic?

No need to clarify or reply.....

The Avatar used by fandacious showed as your avatar when I made the post. If it was a Hub problem I apologise. If not, you alone then know if you did it or not. Consider yourself warned.
