Question

Who else is running a Shimano XT 3x10 setup,

battling to get my gearing smooth across all the gears.

G

I guess you are talking about the chainline on the drivetrain? I had the same issue on my Zula, ended up converting it to a 2X9 that was before the days of 2X10.

I looked and by what I can see everything I've selected should work together, no question, but not getting the type of change/smoothness across the gears I would expect considering the parts purchased.

Running 3*10, struggling when in the big blade and biggest gear in the back

Posted

I know it's not suppose to get to this combination,

but finding that if in the big blade i can get up to about 1/2 up the back, then have to drop to middle blade.

I loved trying to ride all gears in the big blade only, now riding in middle blade mostly and changing up and down the back, but it is still not smooth as i would expect.

Ja I used to do all my riding in big blade on 2*10, have to say I am struggling to find the same rhythm and sweet spot with 3*10

which 3x10 setup are you running.

See allot of the guys building Pyga's are actually going SRAM XX1

hmmm

clever idea, might make it 2...

to figure out how to accomplish this with a split chain with a master link installed.

Try adding a link and see what happens.

Yes mine is not perfect either. I'm running a full XT 2x10 set up and whilst my shifting seems ok (could be better on the front) I am getting a lot of chain rattle when running on the large large combo. The noise seems to be coming from two places. One, where the chain runs onto the top of the large ring on the front and two where the chain runs onto the bottom of the lower jockey wheel on the rear derailleur.

In comparison on my old Scott I don't get any chain rattle issues with its 3x9 setup no matter which gear combo I run.

@ awesome, Did you try nursing the b-screw? I found that there definitely is a sweet spot with it.

Running 2x10 XT setuo. Front chainring battles to drop from large to small, have adjusted ad nauseum and put on new cable. Can't get it to change smoothly. :cursing:

These are some really nice-looking bikes.

One day I'll confirm the riding capabilities first-hand ;)

Anyone else besides Ryanpmb have any thoughts on the Onetwenty?

Or is that :offtopic: haha
