I discovered the hard way that the bolts which hold my rear caliper to the frame have fallen off. I braked, lever went all the way to the handle bar and the bike didn't stop :cursing:

I've never had this issue with my old bike. about 80km ago the lbs adjusted the brakes as the sqeak was driving me crazy and since the bike was brand new, I got them to fix it.

Did they not tighten the bolts properly or is this a common problem?

If they didn't tighten properly, do I go back and ask them for new bolts or do I buy new bolts, tighten them properly and bleed? (Pads are stuck together)

Brakes are tektro auriga pro

Odds are the bike shop forgot to retighten the bolts after they adjusted. You can push the pads back in to the caliper with a large flat screwdriver (use as a wedge, but try not hurt the pads too much).

Suggest going back to the bike shop for replacement bolts. It's a common bolt so they should have plenty floating about. They can assist if it's their fault as well. Shouldn't take more than 10 min.

It's not a common problem, but it does/can happen. You should check/torque all your bolts at +-150km intervals in any case, especially caliper bolts, stem bolts and suspension bolts. Whatever you do, don't over tighten.

I have the same brakes, never any hassles, seems like the shop may have forgotten to tighten the bolts! (much the same as I once forget to tighten the wheel nuts on my beetle, was an awesome feeling when the wheel came off, even more fun trying to jack that puppy up again!).

dropped the bike off this morning. There's no thread in the frame to hold the bolts! They said that they have never seen that before and will make a plan. I hope that means i'm getting a new frame as the bike is only around 3months old.

It's seems very odd that no-one from the shop noticed that before, the have to PDI the bike. This could have resulted in a terrible accident, basically its not good enough from the LBS  , and I would be having stern words.

If the frame is a post mount it will have threads. IS frame mounts DON'T have threads.... If I recall correctly, Fuji doesn't use Post mount rear disc tabs. So there shouldn't be threads on the frame.

Just read this on the Fuji website: A2-SL alloy w/ A-style seat stays and dropouts, cold forged dropout w/ CNC'D post disc mount and replaceable hanger

Both my frame and fork use IS mounts and I can confirm they are not threaded. The IS to POST adapters are.

I always check the bolts before riding. Would suck to lose the titanium bolts I have on the bike.
