Hi all hubbers & hubberettes,

This is my newborn BEAST!!!

Have got most of the drive train components & brakes. Wheels & fork should be here within a month (damn - that's a full 30 days!!!)

Hopefully have it up & running before the end of Sept!

What did you pay for the frame?

Rands of course... :whistling:

R6500 for the frame (incl. shock) & R178 or smething in that region for couriers (used my work account to arrange collection of it)

I think this might be a bit much machine for the (most) of my riding, but I've been dreaming about a MoreWood since I started mtb-ing.

Phone them up & give it a shot. Steve was very helpful through the whole purchase scenario.

Just have the moolas ready in case you get the "what colour do you want it?" question comes from the other side of the line!!!

OK - as this is my first bike I build from scratch I'll have some Q's that'll pop up from time to time.

Here goes my first Q's:

Which head sets are pretty durable ? MoreWood spec says 44mm semi integrated.

Are these any good? (not sure whether they for MTB)

http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/aest-internal-threadless-headset

& fitment? Is it easy to do with 'normal' tools or do you have to have a special tool fit / press it in? I've got most tols you'll find in a mechanic's workshop.

Which book(s) will be a good buy to huide me with some of the other 'issues' I can run into?

Thanx

J

Might be worth asking your different questions as new topics or changing the title update your new build problem. That way people like Johan Borman will see the thread and know to look here.

Good luck.

To answer your question,on fitting a head set.I fitted a cane creek tapered headset on my mbuzi.I dont have the special tools required so I used an 8mm thread bar with two nut on each side and some flat bar to press the cup in.The hard part is to get the cup to press in straight.

I pressed it in slowly.and used a vernier to check it was going in evenly.I had to alter the thread bar and nuts as it will go out of alinement, so you just proceed with caution.I have a fair mech background I would not recommend it for anyone who is not mech, skilled.

Regarding the frame, what type of riding would that ST be best suited to (Trail, AM, Freeride etc)?
