Avo is crazy expensive. I buy the bags of small hard buggers at Checkers(R35/bag). If you keep them in the salad door of the fridge and take two out every couple days you should get a ripe Avo pretty much everyday at a quarter of the price.

Ā

There's a guy selling Natal butter avos for R20 a bag around the corner. I'd never eat that many though! Maybe I should split bags with some mates.Ā

Lunch for me is loaded beans.Ā

Ā

Red kidney beans fried up in onions, bacon and home-made stock, with an egg on top.Ā

I loved that too,Ā frijoles rancheros/charros, I think your above is the charros or Cowboy beans.

Ā

I love the rancheros style, which is without the stock...it kills cholesterol in its tracks and sticks to the ribs like few other meals

I have fond memories of that fillet you did at Groenies!

That was not a fillet ...it was a barbel...

I am planning a visit up north some time in the 1st quarter and I promise to bring another one down and do one again...right now we are dealing in Tiger Prawns and not Fillets :-)
