I bought a RAVX TX3 indoor trainer on gumtree and it's in a very good condition. I can't however fit it on my 29er MTB. This after consulting with at least 4 bicycle shops.

Does anyone know if it is compatible with a 29er MTB or am I possibly not fitting it right!

I was so looking forward to riding at home tonight!

Try getting a wide road tyre to use on idt.

It may be a schlep to change the tyre all the time though.

The giant one won't take a 29 wheel either. I whip the 26" wheel from the Missus' bike. Gears the same. Its not the wheel, but more the frame size and geometry

Indoor trainer nightmare....pffft

Try falling off your trainer and hitting your head against the wall.....

Or

Use a air resistance trainer when one of those fans decide to disintegrate....

Comming from J-bay...I guess you just put it outside??? for that air resitance effect? Bloody windy place that...

Said no cyclist ever!

Or was that another sort of riding?

Exactly the type of riding you're thinking of! :-)

Have you tried fitting a slick to the rar? Alternatively, get a cheap ass 26" rear wheel and use tat as your IDT wheel. You don't need it to be the full size of your normal wheel, and it'll be a dedicated wheel you use for training. Also means the idt won't eat up your knobblies.

I actually bought a slick tire and I was gonna use that for the idt. It appears that the bike shop gave me the wrong size tire even though they have the exact same bike in the shop.

I thought about this option already but I really don't mind changing the tyre all the time as opposed to missing my rides because of the weather or work.

i have a cheap ass old bike that sits on my idt permanently...probably cheaper to get that on gumtree than a cheap wheelset
