MTB's out of China

I am thinking of buying a MTB out of China - got a friend there which has given me indicative prices and they are REALLY good on branded bikes.

Has anyone bought a branded MTB out of China?

Been given the prices on Gaint, Felt etc

warranties not likely to be covered by local agents, Then again if it's well below half the price, u can just get another one if the 1st one dies prematurely.

Careful on full bikes. You will get lumbered on import goods (Luxury item). Rather buy the frame there and build it here.

just watch which website you getting your bikes from. there are a lot of "agents" from the far east (China, Philippines, Malaysia) etc who are actually on buying sites and dont actually supply any products.. They put in ads and your money disappears. Even sites with Trustpass and verified mean nothing. If u want you can Pm me some site info and i can check it out and give you my opinion. as far as i'm concerned i dont believe any of the sites in China sell branded bikes.

Collected the last frame yesterday. Parcel had frame, fork, seatpost, handlebars and a few other small items in. Paid R118.65 levies.

Have a giant frame i purchased in china, absolutely no problems with it. and the price was awesome.

"Un-branded". I'm not paying R8000 for a sticker kit. Basically a Dogma clone, but unpainted. Just clean 3K carbon weave, glossy. We've got a few in town and they are working perfectly. Unbranded integrated carbon handlebars/stem, unbranded carbon seatpost. Unbranded carbon crankset (FSA clone) The only "Branded" part was a set of Alligator I-Links.

 

I won't be fooled by going for a "brand" again. I took my 29'er through Baviaans, killed it down Bergplaas overtaking teams looking for parking. And she's in mint condition.
