I got bar-ends on my risers - is that still upsetting to people?

*SMH* ...... really Joe? Get a grip fellow, I'd rather be seen out and about with tapout cloves (yes that is how I spelt it) of various description than have that fashion faux pas going on .....

Next thing we gonna see okes with bar ends on their road bikes and it will also be 'OK' cause who cares what you do ....

Gotta start somewhere. Proud newbie...thumbup1.gif

Just kidding. The hub isn't really the best place to ask for advice unfortunately. Such are the egos in this place that people would rather phone their better halves for a lift home than be seen dead with a saddle bag on their bikes. Its just a bag that you attach to your saddle, to keep stuff in for goodness sake. But no, someone somewhere decided it was uncool, so no more saddle bags.

get with the program nsBB.. roadies put their bar ends towards the middle of their drop handle so they can lean on their forearms! barends at the end of the bars on a skinny wheel bike are for try-athletes... whistling.gif

Javadude - the hub and the hubbers have helped me thus far and I am sure they will going ahead. Think it comes with the territory - at this stage those things don't affect me yet. Just loving the sport.wink.png

Let me give you a great tip then.

There is absolutely no need to carry a spare tyre (unless of course it's an anatomy thing)

I actually like the n00b look. Most of my MTB rides I do with normal tekkies, I have a massive saddle bag that hold two 29r tubes, a multi-tool, tyre levers, cable ties and chain breaks. I have never (touch wood) used a tube before but I have given away 5+ to tubeless riders that ran into some "tubeless trouble".

Apart from my oversized saddle bag I have a topbar bag that carries car keys, phone (used for Sports Tracker) and some Slim Slabs. I have two bottle cages that hold 750ml bottles so there is no need for a Camelbak. I also do not believe in cycling shirts - they are useless and just helps you to loose a lot of stuff and feels uncomfortable on your back. Mini-pump that does both Presta and Shrader valves is a must on my bike.

What really makes the n00b look fun is when you outride someone that looks like a pro, or when you stop to help someone that does not ride with any of the bare essential spares.
