Growth Hormone (HGH) - WADA and SA drug free sport why can I not use it?

For such an in depth and serious topic, at least fix the spelling on the heading.

For some reason I cannot get into the header and change us to use! I will send a mail to Matt.

I am not saying HGH is the wonder drug yet - but drug are / have been designed already which may well be if Carte Blanche has any substance behind their documentaries. My suspicion is from a sports perspective is these drugs will be banned!

Icycling...i hear your aguement "for" the legit use og HGH....

but, as with so many other things....there will always be a willing buyer and unscrupolous seller...

This "drug" industry is/ will be driven by the wrong demands...GREED. It will be big pharmaceutical companies that get rich...basically already happening in the sports supplement market place!

Carte Blanche - did a documentary not so long ago on drugs which would possibly be able to extend our live to 1000 years of age

So if the UCI can pardon Lance in a 100 years time (like the church does with all the sinners of way back), and you move from track to road .We may just have a race on our hands in 2113.

Turning the tables - why should I not be able to invite WADA / SA drug free sport to my house right now / ASAP to do a complete test which I will quite happily even pay for (all they will find is the what I have had to drink tonight). Then tell them I want to use drugs for longevity reasons as I am hitting the age of 40 - yup I did those test too - and I want to live comfortably for as long as possible - so please remove these drug from MY banned substance list?

Some may argue well you can afford these drug - I would argue - like anti retro's for HIV+ patients - the state should provide! Yup I am 1 of those suckers who pays tax for Zuma's house up grade of how much!!!???

Reminds me of the cake on a plate story, which in all honesty never made sense to me anyway, so its entirely relevant now...

If they grant you this right then what stops everyone from trying the same thing? Why shouldn't other competitive sports people younger than you apply the same longevity logic?

If you seriously want to live as long as possible and in "better health" then maybe consider stopping racing like you do now and exercise at lower less competitive intensities that will be of more benefit to your long term goals, You could also then take HGH as you will no longer be competing and have to worry about testing +

Comparing HGH to state subsidised HIV anti retro's, thats also a bit wishfull.

Anti retro's could save the state (taxpayer) money in the long term and in the short term improves the quality of life and role in productive society of millions who cannot afford them in the first place.

Even though I cycle regularly I have NOT participated in a race since the end of 2010. I am in a good physical condition and have regular checkups to see if there is anything glaringly wrong with my health.

If I could find a Physician (read Medical Doctor) to supervise the process for me I would be on HGH, EPO, Deca Durabolin and Testosterone combination in a flash. In my humble opinion, of course, if taken in moderation there are definite health benefits to be had.

Why? As you grow older RECOVERY becomes a big enemy. I enjoy a hard, physical workout whether that is cycling, karate or judo. A hard session generally equates to a day or two not training and just recovering.

At 55 I have to put in twice the training to get half the results I did when I was 30.

Caveat: In no way should my opinion be seen as condonation of illegal use of PED’s in sports. If you are young, fit and healthy, stay away from this. 'Don't do it, Dude.'

Icycling, your body has a balance sheet, you can take stuff to help you perform or feel great for a time, but it will come back to bite you. These guys on the EPO have shortened their lifespan by 10 years. So grab that HGH and feel amazing for a decade or two but you cant put off the man in a black cloak and pointy stick who rides a skinny horse

After doing all the test you meant to do at 40 (opted for the blood PSA test) and a few more like X rays for my back so we can see how that develops over the next 20 years - the doctor said I was in "too" good condition - my body is better than that of a 30 year old's - so racing is no problem - just ultimately living leads to death but by human nature we want to live as long as possible - we sub conscientiously programed to do that. So what is wrong with going further on a conscience level and if their are drugs available (I am not saying they safe yet or proven yet but with time no doubt they will be) for this why should their be a problem?

Ok, so i just came back from the Doc for some blood tests. I posed the question to her about HGH. Pretty much as I was expecting, there is no good news with this "drug". A person my age 37 i wont get any taller and my body structure has grown to a point where it cant anymore. So taking the HGH will firstly cause a mass buildup as the body does not get taller, the only other way is outwards. so you pickup alot of muscle mass which obviously makes a person heavier, not good for a cyclist. The other thing is increased blood pressure and the heart also grows but not in a good way. Stroke and heart failure is a given. According to her its not a natural growth hormone...duh but it has much more negatives than positives, otherwise everybody would be on it.

Nope, not true. You drop weight when on HGH - and you drop weight quite quickly. That's well known.

Sure, you're improving lean muscle mass, but it's lean muscle - not 'roid muscle. The weight drop comes from the loss of fat, esp. the spare tyre round the belly. So increased lean muscle mass + big drop in spare tyre = good for a cyclist.

My point wrt to your concerns and exercise routine was that you if you are really serious then you might also consider the possible (disclaimer: I'm not a specialist, Dr, Prof, sports scientest etc) damage you are doing on a molecular level due to high intensity exercising, Free radical damage as an example which might not be as evident now or via a psa test or back xray.

LOL sometime you gonna have to do the proper test, its the only way they say...

HGH is the big thing in Hollywood and in any wealthy part of the world where the culture of cosmetic surgery, botox injections, etc is the norm. As I've said before in another thread somewhere, that includes Sandton, Bishopscourt and Umhlanga.

The biggest market for HGH is your Sandton housewife wanting to look in her '20s again. And of course, her wealthly hubby who is dealing with a little mid life crisis, has decided to hit the gym again to lose the belly and has bought a mountain bike because he saw it on Supersport and it looks cool - and some of his mates ride too.

An article of how big it is in Hollywood:

WRT the HGH and testoterone supplementation etc have a look at the Anti Aging movement where they have been doing it for years and are saying that the avergae 65 year old will whip your 40 year old over 100kms.

Their story is about quality of life at advanced age. And who gives a toss about shortening your life - you want quality now, and the above anti aging folks havent seen any major adverse effects yet.

Just costs lots - great wedges of wonga. So work hard now coz you are going to need it to be fast in the future....
