“There is no doubt that this Tour de France is going to be a tough test, but I enjoy the challenge and there’s no reason why I would be any worse off than any of the other contenders. It is our responsibility as a team to adapt accordingly so that we can be as competitive as possible there... It’s a climbers' Tour next year so I’m going to have to work extra hard in the mountains and spend less time on practising time trialling. It’s also going to be important to be as light as possible so our nutrition will play a key role. There will be new tests for me as an individual, that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

True hey, massive.

There's pavé in the mix as well. Nibs will be licking his lips for that stage after his huge win at Stage 5 this year.

Quintana could surprise as this is a real mountaineering  kinda TdF

Read his book over the December break. A very good read. He comes across very well.

A few years back I read Wiggins book. I have pretty much disliked him from that point. Comes across as a real self centered pratt.

Whats the nane of froome's book?

I met Wiggens a few years back and he is a real dick. He loves himself way too much. I went to his media liason and asked him for a signature instead if wiggens and he taloed me saying he is not the celeb here. Wtf!!!!!

I believe there is 2.. the latest one is a nice read - "The Climb"

Yes The Climb is the book I was referring to. Co written by David Walsh I think. Froome is dyslexic so I guess writing a book would be tough. He seems like a bright guy for sure but writing a book is a whole other skill

Also read the climb over holidays and have to say I like Froomie less after doing so. He cleary deserves a lot of respect for the early part of his career when the deck was heavily stacked against him and he pulled through to where he is now on pure character BUT.......he now seems to be a bit of a primadona who dislikes having to get bottles for the car when all team members have ridden themselves into oblivion and had to drop away. Also feel he comes across as a bit of a cry baby in term of bilharsia. Now saying that is not a serious disease but feel he refers to it just a tad too often.

Two more things that struck me from the book:

1) How honest he is about the tension with Wiggo. Would have thought he would stick closer to the team partyline (especially being the protocol respecting St Johns boy that he is)

2) How brutal the sport is in terms of salary negotiations. If you do not perform you can expect your salary to be halved. Try that in the corporate world

PS similarly if you do not happen to find a team. Johnny Hoogeland (he from barbed wire fame) was riding last year in Italy for €4300/month. Even down in SA we pay people more for looking pretty in an office chair 8h/week)

in David millar's book he also comes across as a total know. In the TdF where he came fourth for garmin he apparently disappeared on the final lead out on the Champs d'Elysee without even trying, and then never even thanked the team for riding for him. Edited by Thor Buttox
