Lycra shorts may be black or dark blue. This has been debated endlessly and I have nothing further to add other than to say this is a much more serious issue than riding 17 abreast through the cradle or doping to beat your mates on a club ride.

Funny post!

the rules are there for a reason.

Rule #14

// Shorts should be black.

Team-issue shorts should be black, with the possible exception of side-panels, which may match the rest of the team kit.

Still funny!

Why this obsession with what other people do, or should do? Were any animals, children, elderly harmed by these actions people perpetrated? If somebody wants to look like whatever (in your opinion) let them do that. If you can't stand the sight of their clothing then look elsewhere. It really is THAT easy!

Cyclists are too fond of fighting their own(Mountain bikers do not wear/do that. Tights must be this colour. Roadies are like that). Why all this 'moral' grand standing?

All these hissy fits, and it is holiday season! WTF?

How about that old adage of if you do not have something positive to say, rather keep quiet?

And the worst offenders are not necessarily roadies. I find the hypocrisy of many baggy shorts-wearing AM types especially odorous. They often have more frikking rules than roadies when it comes to what people are "allowed" to wear, or how people are "allowed" to ride their bikes. Is it because they're so super-cool anti-establishment free spirit types, or are they just highly insecure because they've got small willies?

Look, for me whatever I want to wear or whatever component I have for my bike comes down to practicality.

White socks for mtb is not practical - you'll have to throw them away after 1 ride. Same with white shorts - black shorts are the best place to clean your hands if you drop a chain or after changing a tyre. I've had white bar tape for road bike for the past year. Suffered for long enough trying to keep it clean, but I've given up. Not practical, so I'm tossing the idea and going with black tape (I know, I'm a slow learner).

But a mini pump on my frame is practical. So I have one. If you have a problem with it, get over it. It's not your bike and you're not riding it so let it go, really.

And by attempting to be (being in their minds) super cool they miss the crux of being cool. They act like a teenager trying to fit in and being 'one of the guys' (to impress the gals more often than not) however the gals (and everybody else for that matter) see through their attempts at coolness and identify them for being insecure, and eager to break others around them down! Cool? Heck NO! Insecure? YES

Anti-establishment.... has that not turned into an establishment in itself? Oh, the irony!

The only problem with white Lycra is it often shows yer dick.

People shouldn't have to see your dick or they may think you're a dick.

I had no other intention than to relay a funny story. I am a cycling commuter by large and cannot really comprehend this infighting between roadies and mtbikers. At first I thought it was good natured "banter" between cyclists, but then I realized some people do tend to get worked up about it. I realize that this also extents to clothing.

Now, this is my official stand on clothing.

Wear anything you like when cycling

But please be considerate to those around you, not all may be as open minded or liberal regarding your choice of attire.

Especially when visible public hair and genitalia comes to mind.

Amen

I must admit though, that walking around in a shopping centre in your sweater roadie kit is not something you'd ever find me doing. Probably same as an oke walking around on the beach in a little speedo.

Agree on black shorts for the the same practical reasonthumbup1.gif

My white bar tape is also going very sooncursing.gif

I not only have a mini pump, but a saddle bag on both my MTB and roadbike. I have yet to use the tube or bombs inside for my own needs, but I have met countless image conscious dipsh*ts who refuse to carry spares. They often come on here bitching about people not caring and leaving them on the trails when they break downthumbdown.gif

If I have to go to a public place I have a very light pair of baggies I put in my shirt pocket that I slip on. I don't want to get sued for any unfortunate divorceswhistling.gif
