Mampara' date=' i agree with you, why raleigh, if i think of raleigh i think of game and shoprite.[/quote']

Because dura/mampare, Raleigh also caters for the riders who use a bike for commuting  or to ride around the block with their children, and those who can't afford bikes of thousands of rands. Thats why you will also find Raleigh in Dion/Game/Ok checkers etc. Who will send their kids to school with bikes of a few grand. And if raleigh is good enough for the MS team, why not get a Raleigh? Why don't you go for a test drive on one and see if Raleigh is cheap/crap as you (seems to) make it to be?

Hey dude, I did not say it was "crap". I just said it's still a Raleigh. I'm a Cannondale fan through and through and if that frame came from the Cape cycle Systems with a C'dale sticker on and R10 000 more, I would buy it. A Tata is also a pretty car and good value for money but I will still buy a "better" car with same specs even if it's more expensive.

If Raleigh is good enough for Dirt Rider and The Thug, it's good enough for lesser riders !  smiley36.gif

On the pricing:  LBS says that both Giant and Raleigh have said that the new prices will be around 10 - 15% up on a similarly specced 2006 model (first time in 3 years that new bike prices are going up)

No, when I see Mongoose or Iron Horse (which are big brands in the US) I think of Sportmans Warehouse.

hey guys, i bought my wife a raliegh, 3000, and for the price, it is superb value for money! My lbs reckon they could do the TEAM issue for the 25K mark, and that is phenominal value. The frame is dedaccai, same manufacturer as othe top brands, full shimano specc same as other top brands, awesome wheelset, better than many other top brands...seems to me the only difference between this lot and the bikes costing 10- 20K more are the decals, which I must admit lok a bit "busy" on the team, but that 7000C is awesome looking.

Been riding trek for 10 years, both off road and on, Jst moved to Giant Anthem and am seriously looking at a spanking new 7000C from Santa

To use the car analogy mentioned earlier, lets remember, although raleigh make the M-Trax, and other such bikes, available from Game et al, VW made the beetle and the Buggatti Varon, arguable the most technologically advanced supercar ever made

Sorry Speke - it isn't a Kuota.  The Raleigh has curves and the Kuota Khan has curves, but the similarities end there.  There is not a single tube on the Raleigh that has the same shape as the Kuota.

As we have discussed on the board before, Raleigh's high end bikes are made by Kinesis in Taiwan.  Nothing wrong with Kinesis who make Cannondale's Synapse as well as a number of other brands (GT, Santa Cruz, Kona, Mongoose, Trek, Decathlon/Btwin etc).

You should think of Game, Makro and Dion when you think about Raleigh since the Raleigh brand in SA is owned by Massmart who operate those retail chains (among others).
