After the race there is a big grass area to sit and enjoy coke beer

Can't you take your own deck chairs and sit somewhere on the route? Or must you pay per chair

I have a very nice couple of deck chairs and for a special Argus fee will position them on the route for you. They are very pretty and have lots of stripes.

Extras can include:

- pillows

- esky full of cool drinks (and or beer / wine),

- sun umbrella

- ipad streaming coverage

- sunblock

- portable barbie (& selection of sausage based food groups or chicken if you're veggo)

- beer wench / dude (depending on how you swing),

- masseuse (with or without happy ending),

- foot rest

- small person to cheer and clap riders so you don't have to (can get tiring)

- photographer

Note: we take no responsibility for the colours of the chairs, sun burn, dehydration, boredom, wind or missing anyone you might know in the race. Other than than please wire us your bank details and pin number and we'll send you a deposit / invoice. x

Thanks for your consideration.

On a serious note... look for entries on gumtree / hub or hit the charities that have entries. Not all want you to raise a lot of cash and at least you'll get a certain entry.

I suspect that's how some spectators get caught out and stuck at Cape Point for the whole day without a way out of there until the roads open again late in the afternoon.

I think the only people that are happy to get locked in for the day because of the the Argus and the 2 Oceans are down at Llandudno. Guys I know there get excited as it means they can pop out for a quick crayfish without being nabbed by inspectors!

Substitutions

Substitution Procedure for South African residents only.

If you don’t know of someone who is cancelling:

1. From 1 February, you will be able to add yourself to a waiting list on the Cycle Tour website. There will be a non-refundable R50 admin fee charged.

2. Should a place become available to you, you will be notified by email that you can go online and enter as a substitute entrant. You will then be charged the substitution fee of R330.

How to add yourself to the online waiting list:

1. Click on the link to the waiting list, this will be found on the home page of www.cycletour.co.za from 1 February 2013.

2. Search for your name on the database. If your name does not appear, you can create a profile by clicking on “Add new person” – you can then skip to step 5 below.

3. Enter your ID number on the field provided alongside your date of birth. If your email address and password is required you will need to insert his instead of your ID or passport number.

4. Update your personal details if prompted to.

5. Follow the on screen prompts until you reach the payment page. Once you have successfully paid the R50 admin fee, you have been added to the waiting list.

If you know of someone who is cancelling and would like to submit a substitution entry:

From 1 February, you will be able to enter online as a substitute entrant. You will then be charged the substitution fee of R330.

In order to substitute an entrant, you will need the following:

1. The details of the person withdrawing (name, surname and ID or passport number).

2. A valid credit card

Procedure:

1. Go to the online entry page from 1 February to 22 February 2013. A link will appear on the home page on 1 February.

2. Enter the substitute rider’s details.

3. Download a consent form for the person withdrawing to complete (available during the online entry process).

4. Pay the substitution fee of R330, irrespective of PPA membership.

5. The person withdrawing must complete the consent form and then fax it to 086 593 5590 or email it to substitutions@cycletour.co.za.

6. You will receive an email confirmation of your substitution within 5 working days of receipt of the consent form.

Please note:

1. The entrant withdrawing will not be refunded his/her entry fee.

2. The entrant withdrawing may ask for the substitute entrant to refund their entry fee but they may not ask for more than they originally paid. PPA members paid an entry fee of R300 and non-PPA members paid an entry fee of R330.

3. The substitute participant will be issued a new number in the start group for which he/she qualifies.

4. Should the substitute participant not have their own RaceTec timing chip, they will be required to purchase one.

5. Entrants may NOT allow anyone else to use the number allocated to them. If you do so, the participant will be disqualified and the entrant will be suspended from participating in future events. The race number is the organiser’s link to all the relevant contact details and information should you be involved in an accident. It is therefore vital that the information and person is matched correctly.

6. Merchandise orders and chip purchases are not transferable.

Your race number will be available for collection at the counter corresponding with your start group at Registration at the Cape Argus Lifecycle Expo.

Registration will take place at the Good Hope Centre, Sir Lowry Road, Cape Town.

Registration times are:

Thursday 7 March 09h30 – 19h00

Friday 8 March 09h00 – 19h00

Saturday 9 March 09h00 – 16h00

Manual substitutions:

In order to substitute an entrant, you will need the following:

A signed letter from the person withdrawing, giving you permission to take his/her place in the Tour.

Procedure:

1. Download the substitution entry form (available from 1 February) or request a form to be faxed to you by phoning 021 681 4333.

2. Post completed form along with the consent form from the person withdrawing and a cheque/postal order to reach us by 22 February 2013.
