Bikes for Enduro... The restart

trek fuel ex5

I rode my Trek EX9 with a 150mm Revelation for 2 years, no problem

But I did feel that it raised the BB enough to have a negative effect on the handling, if I had to to it again, I'd stick to 130mm max, and maybe consider adjustable headset if you want to slacken the head angle

Also depends on how much you weigh and what type of riding you do, if you weigh 110kg and do big drops, then youre probably looking for trouble, but just normal trail riding, and you should not break anything...

Kuys,

when a fuel EXs' BB is raised, does it negatively affect handling in both ascent and descent situations?

i weigh 57kg, and eating my vegetables to help me grow a lil bit beeggGER.

i don't know which type of riding i do anymore - but i think the best way to describe my riding is up and down the mountain, riding trails as aggressively as i can. (probably not half as aggressive as most in this thread)

That would be All Mountain riding. As in, riding ALL of the mountain, but more of a focus on the downhills. We ride up because it takes us to the top of the trail, not because we like it...

I don't mind riding up the hill either .... like the way it feels like your legs are bleeding and the taste of blood in your mouth frothing up from your lungs!

Actually, I quite like that part as well...

:P

ROFL. I don't like it at the moment. But I do like beating my own times up... means I get fitter, which means I have more fun on the way down...

Damn Adam Hauck for shredding so damn well and really making me believe that if I had that bike, I could do a fraction of the same!

High BB = poor cornering at high speeds, makes you feel like you ride "on" the bike, not "in" it

High BB = better pedalling through rocks & stuff

Rather ask yourself, why so much travel? Why is 120mm upfront not good enough? Quality suspension and good geometry is more important than lost of travel

Do you have a dropper seatpost? I would much rather recommend a dropper seatpost than putting a longer travel fork on, since it will allow better weight and body shifts on the DH's, will make the bike feel much more capable
