This “Community Bike”, whose specifications were decided through crowdsourcing, can be pre-ordered online as a frameset from October. Deliveries are due to start at the beginning of next year.In a long process consisting of questionnaires, compromise, mediation and real world testing, the 2nd Internet Community Bike in collaboration with Alutech and the engineer Stefan Stark has been designed and now presented. The result is a trail bike with 130mm travel at the rear and 130-160mm at the front which should cope with everything from home trails to bike parks. The geometry of the ICB 2.0 follows the principle “long and slack”: With its (for the travel) slack head angle of 66.5°, a long main triangle with low standover height, a compact rear end measuring 427.5mm and a steep seat tube angle, it corresponds more to what one would expect from full-blown 2015 enduro bikes. With the reduced travel it should provide a fun and lively ride. A conscious decision was made to keep the head tube length quite long at 130mm in order to keep the bars at a nice height and avoid the need for too many spacers between the head tube and the stem. A compromise was also made with the cable routing, allowing both internal and external routing. The bearings were chosen for ease of maintenance, with large 40mm bearings which can be easily pre-tensioned. There is also a front derailleur mount and one for a chain guide so that any individual set-up wishes can be met. For the moment, the ICB 2.0 will only be available as a frameset for a price of 1399 €, with pre-orders starting in October. Colour options are: titanium anodized/orange paint, raw anodized and blue/yellow/ red translucent (+200€). By providing a deposit of 50% of the sale price, customers can get a Rock Shox Monarch Plus DebonAir with the frame or with a 75% deposit a FOX FLOAT X.
