overseas will give the page additional latency,

we all love speed.

this is just a nightmare of an operation failure by the hosting company, no excuse, no getting away from it.

I've seen even over seas hosting companies run into this.

Cross posting.

Not sure if Admins are aware:

The page/application code is also old version.

The fly over/drop down boxes are gone,

aka, move you mouse over your login name top right, it use to drop down with options, like, posts I follow etc, does not anymore.

so not only old database, the application server was also build with old version/software stack.

The application code and styling should all be as normal.

There might be some issues with caching of certain styling elements, but drop downs etc. should all function as per normal - they are on my end. Perhaps try a complete page refresh -> usually Ctrl + F5 will do the trick.

Have cleared cache, have restarted both browsers, Safari and Firefox (on MAC)

drop downs are not dropping down.

It use to be that when I hovered my mouse over the down arrow, to the right of my login name a drop down box appeared, now, not so much.

Thanks for getting it back up and running again, the site and all the info gained from it is appreciated very much :)

I've posted in some of the other new threads, but for the benefit of those who missed it, there are still cached copies of the lost threads in Google's cache. You can browse them using this site http://cache.nevkontakte.com/ and pasting in the url e.g. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/125913-bikes-for-enduro/

Hell , it's only a cycling forum after all.

Thanks Mattheus for the efforts

According to others you'd think it is a matter of life and death.

Unfortunate that data was lost, but that is about it. Only people affected

1.Hosting company / maintenance & service techies + company <--- legal liability here

2. Matt <--- embarrassment for him

3. Us? <-- we are the product, do we have rights, other than what lab rats have?

The drop down on profile name at the top right needed an actual click before it drops down. Not sure whether/when anything changed, but that is how it is for me (Chrome + Win7)
