Just got mine delivered from M-kem today. Can't wait to do first tests this weekend after having the old reliable big bowl of future life for breakfast (which I swore by for at least a year now) VS my new bacon and egg breakfast....

Here is some interesting reading on BG:

http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/

Mmmm.... Futurelife.... I know a lot of people swear by that stuff, but it is made from genetically modified soy... do you REALLY want to put (blatantly) GM foods into your system ?

PS. That's a great link that I have often used, Marge !

Used cold water. Looked up three recipes and they all called for cold water. Not sure why. From the taste and consistency it seems there a process of dissolving rather that a tea like brewing thing going on if you know what I mean. I did grind the almonds to a flour first.

Can't really help with the baking thing I'm afraid. Although I do contribute on this most interesting, helpful and constructive thread I am not on a low carb diet. I just happen to agree with a lot of the principles and find some commonality. I am most interested in making my own food at the moment. As in Pasta from flour. Butter from cream. My own icecream and so on. Posted the thing about the almond milk after it came up in a post.

Don't mean to distract from the aims of the thread however so apologies if what I post is not relevant to the thread.

I enjoy your posts Martin even if its not always strictly LCHF - keep it coming!

Also think I should start measuring more. Although I'm still eating LCHF I'm strictly speaking not racing LCHF as I consume carbs immediately before and during. What I do find interesting is that I can race for 4 hours on one bottle. Maybe also because its winter and not that hot but I suspect also because I've been training on water only.

HMT, don't let the protein intake lag too much. You do heavy mileage so need more than the rest of us.

I'm taking to more fatty biltong these days. Also, I'm eating lots of bacon in butter at the moment, and want to start cooking more with lard/ghee. Helps to up the saturated fat content without the risk of increased polyunsaturates (and omega 6's) from plant fats if you're too generous with the helpings of macnut butter, etc.

Let's just say that I dove (dived?) a little too deep into the Woolworths French Style mayo today, accounts for half those poly fats.

The problem is that I don't snack, simply because I don't have anything around to snack on. That and I'm tired of boiled eggs... Maybe I should fry up some streaky bacon and just keep it handy in a tupperware.

PS, I updated the photo in my previous post to show my intake for the day. Roughly 5500 calories of food. NOM NOM NOM!

I have a square of Lindt 70% or 85% most nights. Doesn't seem to cause a problem.

Lindt's squares are huge. Next time try Woolworths' brand dark choc. Very tasty and blocks are small.

FBS this morning, 2.8!! Had a rough night last night, spent the early hours of the morning hurling. Wasn't fun.

HMT - that's not good. 2.8 is considered hypo... even my software throws up all kinds of warnings at that level (not that I have ever been that low). Do you often dip this low or do you think it was due to disease ? Either way, please keep an eye on that.

Anyone on here have any experience with Kefir ? (HappyMartin ?)

Just got a kefir "plant" from a mate and I have made my first 500ml (from milk) - must say I quite like the taste and from all I have read it is a far better probiotic than yoghurt. Thinking of adding that to the old fatshake in AM i.s.o. milk.

You guys who are experimenting, I'd be interested to see the diff in effect between fermented and unfermented milk - so milk vs kefir or yoghurt. Let us know if you try it out.
