As a side note:Chocolate Mousse!

Every once in a while I really crave chocolate and I substitute with chocolate mousse.

I whip cream, eggs and melted butter together and then add coco, vanilla essence and sweetener (or you could use Nomu Skinny hot chocolate).

It tastes great, even though the texture isn't really moussey! Maybe someone can offer some advice?

Ray Peat likes chocolate and ice cream too, but not yoghurt as it contains too much lactic acid. Instead of the artificial sweetners, why not add natural sugar instead ? Vanilla essence is known to have anti-oxidant effects.

Sorry, should have read mentioned sugar a lot. For interest sake, is that natural sugar or refined sugar? I rather enjoy reading up on food and different ways that we react to it.

all types, but mostly natural and fruit. Interestingly they found the coke made in mexico (from sugar instead of HFCS) to be less fattening than in the US :whistling:

Too much starch can also cause problems, but sugar is not so bad if you are metabolicly healthy.

So I am travelling up to Jozi for 2 weeks of training this coming weekend. Next weekend I will be staying with my boet who lives in Old Irene Farm village, so I was thinking if there are any of you that are close to that area who may want to meet for a cup of java on Saturday (24/9) sometime, send me a PM and we can arrange that  ?

Race on 24 Aug but remind me next week htone and maybe I can make a plan. Will be great to meet up.

Do we see diminished longevity with higher carb consumption in human epidemiological data? I think so."

Convenient that he dont want to cite the studies ?

<p>With higher carb consumption, higher total calories normally is associated too. More important would be the amount of PUFA's ingested in such diets as well as the amount of carbs ingested in the form of starche

We could schedule something for 25/9 as well, but I know Sundays are when most people are out riding.... mos. ;)

Especially his conclusion,

"No, the problem has to be something else. "

Did I miss something here? The coke in Mexico contains sugar and not HFCS, but the Mexicans are the most obese nation in the world? I read the "No, the problem has to be something else" as sarcastic, meaning Coke will blame something else rather than admit it is their product?

The mexicans are also the poorer of the 2 nations. Therefore their intake of PUFA's is probably also way higher than the US.

You obviously mean 24/8??

Anyway, that is 15-20min away from my place. So count me in.

Defo sarcastic considering it followed this "But surely using Coca Cola instead of drinking water couldn’t possibly have made all these Mexicans obese? After all, Coca Cola is part of the solution to the obesity epidemic. Their commercials say so all the time and they even educate dietitians about it."
