I can thoroughly recommend Motorex dry lube for both road and MTB.

I use the one in a spray can because it's easy to apply and seems to penetrate the links better. It lasts longer than I expected it to. I ride my road and MTB bikes a lot, and I have not yet finished two cans in a year. I clean and lube my MTB chain after every ride. The lube doesn't wear off on my road bike and lasts much longer than white lightning, which I found to be bad.

Rock n roll blue is great in dry conditions. It sucks in the wet though. I'm trying White Lightning Epic currently and it does the job pretty well. Just stay away from the one in the spray can - it sucks big time.

Agree about White Lightning not being that good. I'm also using Motorex, but the bottle version which wastes a bit. I'm certainly going to get the spray can version though.

Jules, I tried Motorex but found it seemed to stay very wet and I was forever getting chainring tatoos. It is the one in the bottle not the can, do you think I just used too much?

Pro Gold ProLink chain lube.  This oil is great!<?:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />

<?:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />

I have been using it the last 4 months on both the MTB and road bike.

I am impressed.  It seems to gather less gunk on the chain, jockey wheels and chain rings.  I used on the Rhodes Challenge, and despite my free wheel hub problems, I had no build up of dust/gunk whatever.  We had no rain, but ample dust, water crossings, etc.

On the subject of lubing...I have heard of riders lubing during an event, like at a water point. What is the deal with that?

.. forgot to add that the bottled Motorex I have is the wet lube version, but it's still better that W/Lightning. Agree though that it's application is a bit messy and you do tend to overlube because the stuff comes out the bottle like a ruptured vein.
