Ja, they seem to get good reviews overseas, but local conditions are obviously quite different, so it would be good to get some feedback from local riders.

I'm running High Rollers at the moment. They roll really well but I'm wary of it as a front tyre as I've washed it a few times through sharp, hard packed corners.

you have the HR II or running the old vanilla HR?

Looking good, but maybe a tad overkill for my Pyga.

Might grab a set of these for my Shova.

Rear HD pacestar is gonna shed some side knobs soon.

Are you getting these locally or importing yourself?

Price range? (+-)

CyclesAfrica are the agents in SA but they only have the 26" versions for sale.

Currently running WTB Vigilante 2.3 front and WTB Beeline 2.2 rear

Have 1 (possibly 2) of these, unused at the moment

Jeepers, that's a superman build! The only thing I'd change is the tyres, those Ralphs can't cope with the speed this bike is capable of!

You might want to try the WTB Trailboss as a rear tyre over the Beeline when it arrives here.

Agreed - kakkest tyres I/ve ever had. There's so many plugs in there I wonder if the tyre is a rastafarian! Look like dreadlocks. The Enve/kings are due soon and will be coated with something way better. Open to suggestions!

@Flowta what are your thoughts on the vigilante?

Have you ridden with Continental mountain king2 protection? How does the vigilante compare to it?

I am using a 2.4 rubber queen on the front. I love this tyre as it is extremely grippy. I am now looking for a suitable conti for the rear. I just havent mad up my mind yet as there are a few good options

I will have to take a closer look. I'm almost certain one of the tyres I ordered is an HR II but I don't know if I actually fitted that one to the bike.

EDIT: Nope, original High Rollers.

Thx Sam. Ja, I also have the original HR's, but they're almost cooked, so I was just wondering about replacing them with the HR 2's. But ja, so much choice out there at the moment. Do you stick to what you know and trust (in my case the HR) or do you try something different like the HD.

I think it's worth experimenting. If you stick a set on and you're not happy with it there are plenty of people that will buy it from you at a small discount. It's worth it to find a set that you're completely happy with.

So my Nobby Nics failed me at Mankele this last weekend, so I replaced them with WTB Wolverine 2.2s.

While I would have normally chosen a more aggressive tyre for the front end, I must say that they are much nicer than the Nobby Nics. Grip levels are excellent, and I was comfortable pinning it immediately.

I may still put a different WTB up front though. Suggestions?

My new addition! Got the bike while I was in Canada 2 weeks ago. Rode the most amazing singletrack in the world! Bought the bike in Squamish (30mins from Vancouver) and the guy I bought it from took me for 2 days riding. I rate myself as a fairly capable rider but was thrown into the deep end there!!!! The riding we regard in SA as all mountain is considered XC there!!! Words can't describe how good those trails are!!!! Rode down granite rock faces of 40m+ in length that felt near vertical!!!!! Truly stunning riding and just pure fun. If someone has the opportunity to go to BC for some riding let me know as I may be able to organise you someone to show you where to go.

Specs:

Intense Carbine 275

Fox talas CTD 160mm kashima

Shimano XT brakes and 1x10 drivetrain

Stans Flow rims-Magic Mary rear and Maxxis Minnion DHR II front

Easton Carbon bars and ODI grips

KS lev dropper seatpost

Bike weighs about 13.5kgs with pedals.
