Yes, Bogus has offered to black out everything for me, but I'm a bit short on cash, might buy some vinyl and cover them up...

I just did my cranks.. takes a lot of patience. And i did a crappy job. But it's a very good option I think.

just how freaking tall are you with a seat-post extension like that!

LOL and that's an XL size frame as well, you can tell by the wheels looking all small and the frame looking elongated like a blerrie strawberry bicycle.

I'm just under 2m, 196cm to be exact.

I see that Doddy from GMBN rides an XL Nukeproof 290 which is apparently a very lekker big bike for us tall okes, but no too common around these parts. Perhaps next time. For now this XL 2018 Trance 3 GE is doing everything I need. Feels awesome in the berms with those burly 650B tires and very plush over the jumpy bits with 150mm in front and 140mm in the back.

so now you gonna join us tokai next time, respect for that elderly gentleman that was with you, doing DH2

Yup I love Tokai man, I just usually stick to Durbanville hills because I stay like 9km from there as opposed to 30-odd from Tokai. I just want to fit my old Rapide ControlPack to my Trance first. I don't grand that stock flat bar and long stem so much over the tech bits.

Some feedback on the Red Peril.

My search for the perfect set up continues. Air has gone into both the rear shock and the tyres. Shock is about 175psi and 30% sag while the tyres are now around 24 f and 26 r. The tyres are now almost perfect. Still compliant enough but far firmer under cornering loads - none of that awful squirm I hate so much. Grip seems great on the now dry loose trails I have frequented. The shock rides a bit higher which is great for climbing. Moving the seat a tad further forward and angling it down a bit has also helped.

Bike fit is a minor issue. I am finding the riding position a tad too XC - weight on my hands is higher than the old bike and its harder to get the front up. I am thinking a bar with bigger rise may be required to remedy this. Current bar is rather flat anyway.

I've been riding a Medium Trance for a few years, and while I've really enjoyed it, I always thought that I needed a larger frame.

One came up in the classifieds and a deal was made, the sale of the Trance followed swiftly after (with a few tears).

I present to you my new (to me) Rocky Mountain Altitude.
