As requested by latent. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of the injury after it happened. I see now it was only 4 stitches, not 5.

So I take the dog for a run this evening. Normally he runs loose next to the bike (we are on a quiet back road), but because it was dark already, I thought it would be safer to have him on a lead, running next to me. That was until a car came screaming down the road, giving the dog a good fright. Next the dog is trying to get behind the bike and stupid me is holding tightly onto the handlebar and lead. The right handlebar gets pulled back with force and I am flat on my back in the middle of the road. I think the last time I have hit my head this hard was at the Totalsports Challenge - at least then I was wearing a helmet!

Two lessons learnt: even a skinny whippet can move a handle bar. Always wear a helmet, saves you a lot of headache!

Ha Ha I will learn the lesson from you at your expense

I also thought of doing that as I cannot keep up with mine. ( I also have a whippet X breed) ;) I take him to the local rugby field to run loose and he enjoys it, but thought that if I join with my bike it will be so much more fun.

You have to try it! Mine really loves running next to the bike, especially when we are going fast (40kmh!) I alternate between taking him to the park where he can play with other dogs, and doing sprints on the bike.

Was once using a heavy duty staple gun, with a bit of force. Picked it up wrong way round and stapled straight into my palm.

To make it cycling related, I didn't make the start of the three day stage race the next morning!

That was last year. 2 weeks before argus. I struggled changing gears on my right hand (rode a mtb)

Had this done the Tuesday before riding Barberton Ultra in Jan this year. Was an op on my tendon to remove a ganglion.

I luckily didn't need an op, tendons were still ok, but still took a couple of months to get full motion and strength. Even now I sometimes have to stretch it out, as it can get tight

I was running with a 6 month old Rottweiler pup that we were looking after. Going a good pace and suddenly he saw something on the other side and ran right in front of me. I tripped over him and landed had on my knees. Arrived home hobbling with blood stained socks.

You only do this once:

While removing the drive side Pedal, use the crank arm as leverage and then when the pedal slips loose your hand slams down directly onto the chainrings. Even more fun when the chain is in the small blade. :cursing: :cursing: :cursing:

(thats the real reason i now ride SS  )

similar situation. Removing the rings from my crankset to maker het ss and a suborn bootr finally loosens and the chain rings teeth get a nice bit of flesh ..... Sad thing is this has happened a couple of times now.
