Skylark Posted June 14, 2013 Share Yes I know the clacking of a Hope hub is pure awesomeness but I really like sometimes serenely free wheeling down a steep trail with the minimal amount of noise. Yes the clacking does also announce to all those in front of you that a boss on his bike is approaching and they can now kindly step to the side which is also full on awesome but I prefer the stealthy ops approach - no need to let all the bikejackers know a victim with expensive wheels is coming up the trail So anyone actually done the mod that quietness the free body ratchet a bit? I am going to try and lightly oil mine soon and see what effect it has. I have learned to love the sound and anything quieter sounds weird to me now. Skylark Posted June 14, 2013 Share No was some guy adamant that if you overpacked the freehub with a certain type of grease it would stay that way, it doesn't damage anything but the pawl engage is a fraction slower, which I'm fine with.
