Gaan niemand anders kommentaar lewer oor hul ondervinding die afgelope naweek nie?

Wat kan ons die naweek verwag, was dit erger as verwag/laasjaar?

My wife and I almost came last, so my comments won't be helpful in any way. All I can say is that I hope the rain holds until Saturday and that some of the single tracks can cope with another 1200 odd riders going through them. At the back of the Adventure field some of the trails were really muddy. Hopefully the guys from the Ride will give us an update after tomorrow.

So Ide say 90% of the first day was completely dry. Odd deep mud puddle here or there. I was really surprised at how good the single tracks were today. It should be fine by Friday.

But tomorrow (day 2) is where the mud will really count...

Very similar to last year except even more singletrack. Comments/suggestions IF it rains again (so far predicted to rain): carry lube seperately from your spares - easier to get to quickly if muddy. I cut two sidewalls ( last two years I had one flat tyre in total for the two years worth of riding)- many cut treestumps to chow sidewalls. So at least a tube per team? Extra quicklinks - they weigh nothing and mud snaps chains. Extra water to clean rear der. No eyewear in the rain and mud or front mudguard. Extra shoes helped me (clean and dry on middle day).

Route is quicker up to the portage section. For the snakes it will be worthwhile to gun the start - first singletrack wont allow much passing. From table 3 on day one is more open to passing. Second day is play day. Day 3 with 2 long open drags towards the last third to make a break if so inclined. Felt much the same as before - second just slightly longer. Use it, dont use it.

HI, did my first one. Fairly to the back, start group I, but finished it. Was tough with the mud, certain sections when you are at the back of the field were impossible to ride. Will be back next year with more single track training. This was our team's second stage race, we are still friends!

The muddy campsite was a challenge, but part of the memories.

What a day. Had an absolute blast. My partner and I are 45th overall seeded up from E to A. We had record breaking 45°C at the portage point. Un freaking believable. Great route, view amazing. The trails have been well ridden in from the mud hardening after the adventure. If the rain hold the race guys should have lekka trails. First time doing the W2W. My hands were paining as hell but expected on a rigid SS. Goodluck for tomorrow all

My partner (my wife) is getting a bit nervous for all the hype on how technical it is! I on the otherhand love it the more technical it gets! This is gonne be a huge test of patience!! (who's idea was it anyway) Any lawyers doing the race?

As a back marker, take my advice whence it comes, but safe to say her common sense should prevail and let your wife lead you into the single tracks. That way she can focus on what lies before her and not behind her. If you do need to give track, you can yell track and shield her for a few seconds from passing riders. And then as I said to my wife several times, I'll always do what she does based on her confidence and attitude at the moment as it presents itself. She stops - I stop. She walks - I walk. She pushes the boundary - I push the boundary. It might mean you don't go as fast or extreme as you wanted to, but keeps your wife confident and both of you in the race and together. No lawyers needed.

Whata stage, absolutely amazing. Single track and bridges out of this world. Flipping hell. Heat not so bad compared to yesterday, we started in A batch today. Had an issue with my SS lost a chainring bolt and could only fasten 2 others. The 3rd stayed loose for the next 30kms. Pushed my partner like hell the last 10kms. Loved it!!

Oh, and it was like 5 degrees last night when the sun went down. And everything was wet this morning from the dew. Brrr. But 10 minutes of sun and was dry and 20 degrees at the start.
