I knew this would be a interesting read...once there is a lot of info on here with pics of actual things we talking about with scale we can rank the top 10 of things

Like lightest, best value for money etc

Just for interest sake..not slamming any brands or anything

Where is the point of diminishing returns?

nope, my MTB doesnt fall on (or below) that line

infact, I know of quite a few poeple that will 'upset' that line

this was just a thumbsuck, i didn't start entering people's data into the graph. but a scatter plot should really follow this norm.of course there would be outliers. There would also be huge discrepancies on mtb, because carbon, ss, ds and hardtail would all have different characteristics and shouldn't be lumped in the same grouping.

here's an extended one.

lighter??? No thats about as light as most of the DH bikes get these days ...

at the moment the Trek Session is one of the lightest around at 15.8kg ...

I think the santa cruz V10 is around there too

if i added in a ti spring and better rear shock i would dump 500g ... oh and lighter bar stem and seatpost - will drop the other 500g ... but its not worth the added cost

I thought it would be just over 15kg's....I need to do more research (see, I am not ready for a big bike yet...know too little)

Finding it difficult to extract useful information from this thread.

Cost per kilo is misleading in some respects

Also don't know if items were bought used or new

Graphs will be skewed IMO
