Just out of interest sake. How much faster were you than the second person on the leader board. If you were way faster then your ride might look suspicious and thus get flagged. I personally know of people that drove segments with their car just to get a KOM (NOW THAT IS SAD!!!), but that is how serious some people take getting KOM's.

Yeah, the thing I really find amusing is that I virtually never see any of the Strava superstars on podiums anywhere... Maybe they should just have a Strava category at the races from now on

BOOM! Judgement Day. Bring it.

Uhhh wait. What is sad is that oke thats have a segment KOM think that okes that don't have a KOM are incapable of having a KOM but don't want to install Strava to get KOM that are not worth anything because okes that have a KOM get flagged by okes that want a KOM and have Strava but can't get a KOM so they make fun of the okes that have a KOM.

There. I said it. Make sense of that. Bitches.

Well, some poor folks think they have friends just because they're on Facebook. Who are we to judge just because we know better and don't have a Facebook profile or Strava account? Obviously Strava will never substitute a race. But I'd love to know how I compare bombing down Hoogekraal compared to my beer-drinking, fun-loving buddies. Not sure about this KOM stuff though.

Because they have their own virtual podium. We can't see it :whistling:

Bud....I don't know quite how to say this, but its not....

OK, so 3000 okes have ridden the same segment. The guy with the fastest time shouldn't feel that he has achieved anything. I must admit, my idea of an achievment must be warped then...

It is I am afraid, most of the 3000 didn't even know they were racing on that segment....you see what I did there. Don't get sucked in by the virtual glory that is strava, it means jack.

Go to race, look someone in the eye on a climb and see if you can make them pop...much more rewarding than this virtual kuk.

Strava is fun.. Dont take a piss on it! If you are a competitive rider and going out to chase a KOM its all in good faith and keeps us as cyclist motivated and driven.. Sure dont go drown yourself in a bottle of Klippies or Nederburg if you dont get the KOM, its a guideline to what some of the pro's are able to do and your measurement against them..

Relax people!

Some sad chap has all the KOM's in my area, not a local, we don't use Strava. So he came here into the remote rural area to get a few KOM's, I think I'm gonna get on my motorbike and beat him on all of them :whistling:

Dont know who is the saddest, you or him?

Why is enjoying the competitive edge that strava brings to your training called "taking it too serious"?

Don't you think when you have to start making a thread about being flagged on a segment that you are starting to lose that enjoyment?

We're old school Fabes. But we still had PT at school. And we were compelled to do sport (although I loved my sport). Now parents must pay for their kids to get exercise as an extra curriculum activity. Not everybody can afford that. This weekend's PPA MTB race cost me R450 for my wife and I to enter. Never mind the fuel expense for driving 380 km there and back. Just the other day a daughter of a mate of mine was watching Wimbledon and said "look daddy, they're playing the same tennis game we play on the Wii box"!! I kid you not. I think Strava's place will evolve as long as there's a bicycle at hand. And it can only be good. Obviously it can never substitute a race.
